Salary Range: $120,000.00 - $160,000.00 Salary/yearThe HSE Coordinator is a seasoned HSE professional responsible for executing health, safety, and environmental programs across Flywheel’s Colorado operations. This role delivers hands-on HSE support directly to field personnel and operational teams, driving safe, compliant, and sustainable operations through technical expertise, risk-based decision-making, and credible field presence. The HSE Coordinator works closely with operations, engineering, and cross-functional departments to protect people, property, and the environment while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Reporting structure and team composition will be defined based on the selected candidate’s experience and organizational needs; the role is expected to provide direction and guidance to field personnel and contractor teams and to lead HSE initiatives end-to-end.

Leadership & Culture:

Field Leadership & Contractor Oversight:
- Provide informal coaching and on-the-job guidance to field personnel and contractor teams on HSE standards, Life Saving Rules, and safe work practices.
- Support the onboarding and orientation of contractors to Flywheel's HSE expectations and site-specific requirements.
- Monitor contractor HSE performance in the field and escalate and address concerns or gaps to operations leadership as needed.
- Identify training or awareness gaps within field teams and support targeted interventions to close them.
Strategic Alignment & Measurement:
- Align personal HSE priorities and activities with company objectives, adjusting based on field conditions, operational risk, and business needs.
- Track and report meaningful KPIs and leading indicators to measure performance and progress against HSE goals.
- Contribute to practical strategies that reduce HSE risks and improve protection of people, assets, and the environment.
Technical & Operational Execution:
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Flywheel's HSE programs, including policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Deliver technical HSE support across production, maintenance, construction, drilling, completions, and workover operations.
- Ensure programs and practices maintain regulatory compliance and scale with current operations and future business growth.
Collaboration & Compliance:
- Partner closely with operations, engineering, and other functional teams to improve communication, alignment, and execution of HSE programs.
- Lead and support incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, audits, inspections, and required regulatory reporting.
- Champion full compliance with applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder & Contractor Management:
- Execute and maintain a sustainable contractor management program, including use of third-party consortium tools, to ensure contractors are qualified, trained, and aligned with Flywheel's HSE expectations.
- Support constructive relationships with regulators, agencies, and other key external stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of upstream oil and gas HSE experience supporting field operations
- Experience supporting production, maintenance, construction, drilling, completions, and workover operations for an upstream oil and gas operator
- Deep technical knowledge of OSHA regulations applicable to upstream oil and gas operations
- Strong experience with OSHA Recordkeeping requirements (29 CFR 1904) and maintaining accurate, audit-ready records
- Demonstrated experience in risk management, including hazard identification, job safety analysis, risk assessment processes, and root cause failure analysis
- Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining HSE management systems
- Demonstrated success driving continuous improvement through leading indicators such as SIF prevention, Life Saving Rules, and safety leadership training
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both one-on-one and group settings
- Experience developing and delivering HSE training in both web-based and instructor-led formats
- Experience supporting contractor/vendor management programs from an HSE perspective
- Strong presentation, organization, and project management skills
- Ability to work a full-time, exempt schedule, with flexibility for varying days and hours based on company needs
Preferred
Qualifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Experience with asset acquisitions, integrations, or new developments
- Quantitative risk analysis experience
- Emergency response and incident management experience
- Exposure to Power BI and SQL Server tools
