Job Description

At WSP, we’re shaping communities, infrastructure and environments for future generations. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced and proactive HSE Coordinator to join our Health, Safety & Environment team, supporting our Victoria and Tasmania operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about creating safer workplaces, influencing positive safety outcomes and partnering with leaders to embed a strong health, safety and environmental culture across a diverse professional services business.

What you'll do

Reporting to the Regional HSE Manager (Vic/Tas), you'll play a key role in supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of WSP's Health, Safety and Environment management systems and programs. You'll work closely with business leaders, project managers and employees to help identify, manage and reduce risk while promoting a culture where safety is everyone's responsibility.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the implementation of HSE systems, processes and initiatives across the region.
  • Providing timely and practical HSE advice to stakeholders and project teams.
  • Assisting with risk assessments, controls and management processes for both routine operations and emergency situations.
  • Monitoring HSE performance and supporting reporting and analysis activities.
  • Supporting incident investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contributing to the implementation and monitoring of critical risk controls.
  • Managing HSE information, records and knowledge-sharing processes.
  • Supporting injury, illness and claims management activities.
  • Building strong relationships and influencing stakeholders to achieve positive HSE outcomes.

About you

You'll be a collaborative and organised HSE professional who enjoys working with people and making a tangible difference to workplace safety and wellbeing.

We're interested in hearing from candidates who have:

  • A Certificate IV or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Return to Work Coordinator qualifications or experience.
  • Experience working within a similar industry or organisational risk profile.
  • Previous experience in a health, safety and environment role (desirable).
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Sound problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Experience in areas such as auditing, investigations, training or other HSE technical disciplines.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a collaborative environment.

What you'll bring

Success in this role will come from your ability to influence, collaborate and support others. You'll be someone who:

  • Demonstrates attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Communicates confidently with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Remains resilient and composed under pressure.
  • Embraces feedback and continuous learning.
  • Shares WSP's commitment to safety, wellbeing and environmental responsibility.
  • Takes a practical, solutions-focused approach to improving outcomes.
