About the Role

We have a rare opportunity for a highly engaged, passionate and forward-thinking HSE Business Partner to drive a proactive safety culture and support and guide operational leaders at our Smithfield manufacturing facility.

A trusted HSE Professional to leaders across manufacturing and distribution, you will coach and influence stakeholders to strengthen safety leadership, accountability and risk ownership. With a strong presence on the frontline workforce, you'll build relationships, support injury management and drive practical HSE outcomes across the site.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with leaders to build HSE capability, ownership and accountability across the site.
  • Coach, mentor and influence leaders to strengthen safety leadership and behavioral safety practices.
  • Drive leader-led safety initiatives and foster a proactive safety culture.
  • Facilitate risk assessments, hazard reviews and critical risk management activities.
  • Lead and support incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Manage injury management and return-to-work processes in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Deliver engaging HSE training, education and awareness programs.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on HSE performance, trends and key metrics.
  • Lead & /or support with national / APAC HSE project (s) with guidance from APAC HSE Team
  • Support risk management audit programs, governance activities and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Involved in system development for reporting SharePoint intranet & Health & Safety Management system
  • Strengthen contractor management processes and site compliance standards.
  • Partner with operational teams on projects and change initiatives to identify and mitigate risk.
  • Build strong relationships across all levels of the business to influence positive HSE outcomes.

About You

  • Ideally you will have relevant Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety, Engineering, Science or equivalent
  • 5 years’ HSE experience, ideally within manufacturing (plastics, heavy manufacturing, transport, FMCG, building materials, construction) or other high-risk industries
  • A proactive, confident and hands-on HSE professional who leads through influence and relationship building.
  • Strong experience coaching and developing leaders to improve safety performance, behaviours and accountability.
  • Demonstrated capability in risk management, incident investigation and safety governance.
  • Experience managing injury management, workers' compensation and return-to-work programs.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to challenge, influence and build trust at all levels.
  • Comfortable working closely with frontline teams and maintaining a strong presence on the factory floor.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with experience using HSE systems and performance data.
  • Experienced complex investigation, root cause analysis
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment will be highly regarded.
