Job Description
The HSE Advisor/Specialist will partner with Operations and Project teams to promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe execution of office and construction-related activities. This role provides leadership on health, safety, and environmental initiatives by supporting high-risk work planning, contractor safety management, incident investigations, emergency response, and compliance with Operational Excellence standards. The ideal candidate has extensive oil & gas HSE experience, strong knowledge of contractor and construction safety, and the ability to influence leaders and field personnel while driving continuous improvement and Serious Incident & Fatality (SIF)
Responsibilities
- Safe Operations- Provide HSE leadership to Operations and Project Teams to promote a Serious Incident and Fatality (SIF) Prevention Culture including Human and Organizational Performance concepts.
- Provide in-field coaching to personnel on Safe Work Practices and Permitting with a focus on high risk work and safeguards. Develop, monitor and verify effectiveness of HSE deliverables and HSE activities to meet the Chevron expectations.
- Participate in Contractor Safety Committee meetings and serve as Chevron HSE point of contact for General Contractor and Sub Contractor HSE Representatives.
- Conduct Contractor OE Management Field Verifications/V&V Engagements and other Assurance activities as directed. Actively participate in toolbox talks and JSA development, verify IOGP Start Work Checks are utilized as appropriate.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate proactive and leading project safety metrics.
- Address OE/HSE findings from assurance activities (Peer Assist/Review, CRE OE Assurance Audit, OE Audit, Site Inspections/Audits, etc.).
- Participate in all levels of emergency response planning and training, as required.
- Participate in safety meetings (safety standups, weekly HSE meetings, Leadership Team walks).
- Support initial incident response and data gathering efforts and participate in investigations as needed and ensure proper classification and reporting is complete.
- Communicate a clear vision that generates commitment and support from all employees and proactively develop and promote a strong Operational Excellence culture.
- Contribute, as required, to the preparation of monthly and quarterly safety performance reports.
Qualifications
- 10 to 20 years of direct Oil and Gas HSE experience.
- Must have Human and organizational performance –Leadingorfacilitating incident investigations, root cause analysis
- Degree in occupational safety and health or similar safety science
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in Occupational Health & Safety legislation / regulations, Safe Work Practices, Contractor HSE Management, Incident Investigation & Reporting, Human and Organizational Performance, High Risk Safeguard Verification, Construction Safety.
- Must meet conditional job offer requirements.
