We’re looking for an HSE Advisor to play an important role in protecting our people, assets and the environment at Drax Power Station. As an HSE Advisor you’ll work closely with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams, providing practical HSE advice, helping manage risk and ensuring we continue to meet our safety and environmental responsibilities. You’ll be visible across the site, building strong relationships and helping colleagues make safety part of everything we do!

Who we are:

This is much more than a compliance role. As an HSE Advisor you’ll have the opportunity to influence how we work, support major outages and projects, investigate and learn from incidents, and develop initiatives that strengthen our HSE culture. As a champion of Zero Harm – One Safe Drax framework, you’ll help us continually improve our approach while balancing operational performance with high standards of safety and compliance.

  • Lead and support incident investigations, identifying trends, capturing lessons learned and helping prevent recurrence.
  • Champion a positive HSE culture through visible engagement, training, campaigns and initiatives that drive behavioural and cultural improvement.

Who we’re looking for:

You’ll be an experienced HSE professional who can turn technical requirements into practical solutions. Confident working across a busy operational environment, you’ll combine strong technical knowledge with the communication and influencing skills needed to build relationships and drive positive change.

To be successful in this role you’ll ideally have…

  • HSE experience gained within energy, engineering, manufacturing, construction or another high-hazard environment is preferable.
  • A NEBOSH Certificate and ideally working towards a NEBOSH Diploma.
  • Good understanding of incident investigation techniques and has experience of implementing them.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE and environmental legislation, with the ability to apply it practically.
  • Experience of risk assessment, risk controls and incident investigation, including identifying lessons and improvements.
  • Knowledge of management systems and standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Strong communication, analytical and influencing skills, with the confidence to work independently and build effective relationships across different teams and stakeholders.

Rewards and benefits:

As you help us to shape the future, we’ve shaped our rewards and benefits to help you thrive and support your lifestyle. If successful in this role, you’ll get:

  • A discretionary bonus depending on company performance
  • Private Healthcare
  • SAYE (Sharesave): discretionary scheme from time to time
  • Personal accident cover
  • Group personal pension plan where we’ll contribute up to 10%
  • Holiday - 25 days plus bank holidays
  • Reimbursement of the cost of your annual membership of one relevant and appropriate professional body

We’re committed to making a tangible impact on the climate challenge we all face. Drax is where your individual purpose can work alongside your career drive. We work as part of a team that shares a passion for doing what’s right for the future. With Drax you can shape your career and a future for generations to come.
