Job Description
Wood is seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to support our Consulting business unit, managing a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK region.
The position can be based in either our Staines or Reading office, with regular travel between locations and occasional visits to client sites and other Wood offices as required.

The Role
The role will focus on supporting the business by providing practical and timely advice on health, safety, and environmental matters. You will work closely with management, employees, clients, and contractors to ensure HSE requirements are understood and effectively implemented in line with applicable legislation, Company standards, management systems, and Client requirements.
The advisor will also contribute in supporting the identification and management of HSE risks, monitor performance, and promote continuous improvement across business operations. Through effective communication, engagement, training, inspections, and incident learning, you will help strengthen the organisation’s safety culture, minimise business and operational risks, and maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental performance.

Key objectives for this role are:
- Provide strategic HSE advice and guidance to Management on Company, Client, legislative, and regulatory requirements
- Communicate and monitor HSE objectives, initiatives, and performance to ensure alignment with business and Client requirements
- Develop HSE improvement plans and KPIs, supported by performance monitoring, trend analysis, and timely reporting
- Lead and support incident and accident investigations, ensuring appropriate corrective and preventive actions are identified and implemented
- Communicate incident findings, lessons learned, and best practices across relevant projects, contracts, offices, and work locations
- Manage HSE interface requirements and ensure compliance with applicable Company, Client, and project documentation
- Build effective working relationships with Management, Client HSE representatives, site/offshore teams, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Promote workforce engagement through HSE meetings, workshops, forums, and safety initiatives
- Coordinate and participate in Client, subcontractor, and internal HSE meetings, providing relevant performance data and updates
- Develop and maintain an HSE visit programme covering offices, projects, installations, worksites, and contractor locations
- Oversee HSE arrangements across assigned office and project locations, ensuring compliance with applicable requirements
- Ensure emergency response arrangements are established, tested, communicated, and aligned with Company and Client requirements
- Deliver HSE inductions, training, coaching, and mentoring to employees, contractors, and subcontractors
- Develop HSE presentations and awareness materials for inductions, meetings, and training activities
- Conduct and support HSE inspections and site visits, identifying improvement opportunities and following up on actions

Expected:
- Proven experience in a technical role with relevant HSE experience
- Previous HSE experience within a relevant industry
- NEBOSH Certificate and a recognised HSE auditing
- Good knowledge of applicable industry regulations and HSE requirements
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 4 / IOSH qualification
