
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Determine correct and accurate HS Code / AHTN classification of imported products based on product specifications, composition, and function.
Ensure full compliance with Philippine customs laws and tariff regulations
Prepare, submit, and monitor Tariff Commission Advance Ruling (AR) applications.
Coordinate and follow up with Tariff Commission on AR requirements and issuance
Review technical documents, catalogs, and product details for proper tariff classification.
Maintain and update the company's HS Code masterlist and classification database.
Verify correct tariff declarations and import documentation prior to customs clearance.
Monitor updates on customs regulations, tariff rulings, and AHTN amendments.
Support resolution of classification disputes, customs issues, and compliance concerns.
Resolve HS Code disputes, audits, and customs-related classification issues
Prepare reports and documentation related to classification and regulatory compliance
Ensure proper filing and safekeeping of all classification rulings and permits
Provide technical guidance and ensure continuous improvement of classification processes
Accuracy of Classification - Ensure all products are assigned correct HS Codes and Tariff Lines
Timely submission and approval of Advance Ruling (AR) applications
Maintain full compliance with BOC regulations, CMTA, and AHTN Standards
Ensure proper documentation to support classification and audits
Provide accurate guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders
Risk Management - Identify, mitigate, and manage classification-related risks
Maintain up-to-date knowledge and share expertise with the team
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Custom's Administration, International Trade, or any related field; Licensed Customs Broker (strong advantage, not required)
Preferably with training or certification in ASEAN Harmonized Tariff Nomenclature (AHTN), Tariff Classification, BOC Regulations and Compliance, Import Procedures
Minimum 5 to 8 years experience in classifying wide range of products, interpreting technical product specifications for customs purposes, preparing classification justifications and documentation for audits.
Advance Rulings, AHTN updates implementation, and supporting post-clearance audits.
Must have proven knowledge of Philippine Tariff Act and ASEAN Harmonized Tariff Nomenclature (AHTN)
