The Opportunity

In this role you will:

  • Ensure the client complies with the national statutory Health & Safety requirements for each construction project.
  • Implement best practice, and lessons learned, across each project.
  • Enhance, and improve, existing construction safety management procedures through a visible on-site presence, and through active participation in all aspects of day-to-day Health & Safety management on the projects.
  • Implement Microsoft construction safety management program across each project.
  • Assist on an as needed bases in the development of specific safety programs.
  • Provide an independent review, and oversight, of construction Health & Safety management procedures in place for each project; with a view to cross-evaluation of projects, sharing lessons learned / best practice, and driving continuous improvement across the Microsoft construction supply chain.
  • Assist in the identification, and management, of high-risk activities at each stage of the projects; including liaising with design teams and working with contractors in forward safety planning and co-ordination of works activities.
  • Monitor and report the client's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for assessment and evaluation across all construction projects.
  • Review and assess, the health & safety implications of changes as they occur during construction projects.
  • Develop and implement, report and communicate structures on Health & Safety management performance for each project to enable accurate assessment and evaluation.
  • Actively engage with all aspects of day-to-day Health & Safety management e.g. attendance, and participation in meetings (both management & personnel as appropriate), training workshops daily activity briefings and management reviews.
  • Attend planning and coordination reviews, for both day-to-day and longer-term safety
  • planning for work activities.
  • Assist in the evaluation of effectiveness of Health & Safety planning at site level; e.g. through the assessment of communications with all parties; including contractors, workers, and supervisors.
  • Carry out independent Health & Safety audits on all aspects of construction management.
  • Monitor compliance between Health & Safety planning and actual works on site.
  • Carry out assessment of accidents, incidents, & near-miss reporting; including the evaluation of findings and monitoring the implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
  • Carry out on-going assessment of the resources provided by contractors to enable implementation of the contractor’s safety management program.
  • Encourage and promote, Health & Safety initiatives aimed at influencing positive safety behavior on the sites.
  • Encourage and promote, contractor participation in structured Health & Safety awards schemes by recognized bodies.
  • Report to, and take direction from the client and their nominated representatives.​

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Have a minimum of ten years’ experience in a senior role with formal qualification in health & safety management; with relevant experience in construction Health & Safety management.
  • Have extensive experience in contractor communications, and liaising with design teams, and other project professionals.
  • Have a degree and/or certification in Health & Safety profession.
  • Possess strong communication skills with associated excellent reporting skills.
  • Have experience of international projects and have a sound understanding of cultural, diversity and inclusivity aspects in a large-scale program delivery context.
