POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
The HRIS Specialist is a hands-on Workday expert responsible for supporting, optimizing, and enhancing Workday HCM within the construction management industry. This role serves as a subject matter expert in Workday HCM, Workday Learning Managing System (LMS), ensuring accurate HR data, system compliance, and scalable workforce solutions. Partnering with HR, Talent and Development, and Technology, the HRIS Specialist supports design, configuration, testing, reporting, integrations, and governance while driving continuous improvement of HR systems and employee experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as subject matter expert within our Energy division on current and upcoming Workday capabilities for Workday LMS
Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders in the development of roadmaps for the LMS
Design, configure, maintain, and optimize Workday Learning, including learning HUBs, course assignments, enrollment rules, condition rules, notifications, security roles, calculated fields, and reporting
Collaborate with HR, Training Content creators, Training and Development, IT, and other business partners to understand operational needs, translate requirements into Workday solutions, and design system architecture that enhances HR processes, data integrity, and the overall employee experience
Develop, validate, and maintain advanced, matrix, and composite reports, dashboards, discovery boards and analytics to support business decision-making
Maintain data integrity through regular audits, troubleshooting, exception reporting, and proactive data cleanup
Support Workday semiannual release cycles including impact assessment, configuration updates, regression testing, documentation, and stakeholder communication
Develop and maintain functional design documents, including data mapping and process flows, test scripts, configuration decisions, business process guides, and job aids
Provide Tier 2-3 configuration-based troubleshooting and support for escalated HRIS tickets
Ensure HRIS practices align with data governance, privacy standards, and internal compliance frameworks
Follow established change control, change management, testing and release protocols to ensure consistent, and reliable configuration deployment
Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline; or equivalent work experience
•3–5 years of hands-on Workday HCM (LMS) configuration experience
Strong understanding of HR business processes, organizations, Core HCM data structures, and employee lifecycle transactions
Proficient in configuration, testing, and implementation of system changes or enhancements to meet evolving business needs while ensuring minimal disruption to HR operations
Experience with Workday LMS processes (Learning module, course assignments, enrollment rules, campaigns, HUBs, etc.)
Proficiency in Workday reporting including advanced report writer, dashboards, and calculated fields
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex system issues, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver scalable solutions
Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills, with proven ability to support cross-functional stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and execute high-quality deliverables
Workday certifications in HCM, LMS and/or Reporting preferred
Familiarity with agile methodologies, Jira, or similar backlog management tools preferred
HR certifications such as SHRM-CP or PHR preferred
Experience supporting HR systems in a large, project-driven workforce environment
