HRIS Specialist (Workday/CSOD – 1 Year Contract)

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented HRIS Specialist with expertise in Workday and/or Cornerstone OnDemand, and a keen interest in leveraging AI‑driven HR technologies, to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in enhancing our HR tech ecosystem by supporting both traditional HRIS functions and emerging AI capabilities.

You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of global HR data, providing day-to-day technical support, and maintaining the worker lifecycle. Additionally, you will help evaluate, implement, and optimize AI‑powered tools that enhance data quality, automate workflows, and improve employee and manager self-service experiences.

Key Areas of Focus:

  • Absence Management: Administer and configure time-off and leave plans.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Develop and generate insightful reports to support audits, compliance, and HR decision-making.
  • Business Processes: Continuously analyze HR processes to identify opportunities for automation and optimization. Partner in the evaluation and implementation of AI-powered workflow tools, chatbots, and process automation to streamline transactions and reduce manual effort.
  • Data Management: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of HR data, including data entry, audits, and reporting in Workday and SharePoint.
  • Payroll: Collaborate closely with Finance colleagues to ensure accurate processing of Canada bi-weekly and USA semi-monthly payrolls in Workday.
  • Training: Provide end-user training and support on Workday and Cornerstone OnDemand and maintain system documentation.
  • Workday and/or Cornerstone OnDemand Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert on Workday, providing configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting support. Contribute to the integration and optimization of AI features within Workday or CSOD, such as skills intelligence, personalized dashboards, or automated recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and Maintenance: Oversee the worker lifecycle in Workday, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.

  • Optimization: Gather business requirements, design, test, and implement business solutions to optimize processes. Utilize AI and automation tools to streamline workflows, reduce transactional workload, and identify high‑impact opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Expert Guidance: Provide guidance on HR transactions, processes and AI‑powered features to improve decision-making and user experience.

  • Collaboration: Act as a liaison among HR, Finance, and Technology teams for operations and HR systems. Partner with cross‑functional teams to evaluate, implement, and integrate AI‑enabled capabilities that strengthen process efficiency, reporting, and employee self‑service adoption.

Required Skills:

  • Education: College diploma plus HR and/or payroll-related certification; CHRP certification preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years of related HRIS experience, with a strong focus on Workday and/or Cornerstone OnDemand configuration and administration.
  • Technical Proficiency: Thorough understanding of at least three Workday HCM modules, and/or technical expertise in Cornerstone OnDemand configuration and security. Demonstrated ability to work with AI‑enhanced HR technologies, including Workday’s and/or CSOD's AI‑driven features, and the capability to adapt quickly as new AI capabilities are introduced.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and system requirements. Adept at using AI‑powered tools to support data-driven decision making and continuously improve HR processes.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Confidentiality: High level of confidentiality and diplomacy required.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to plan, organize, and schedule multiple tasks with competing deadlines effectively.
