Job Description

Are you ready to grow into an HR Business Partner role at ING? As an HRBP Consultant, you will support people-related initiatives across Retail Banking NL and, depending on business demand, contribute to assignments in different parts of the organisation. You will work on themes such as workforce planning, talent, performance, capability building and change, while learning how HR creates impact in a large, complex organisation.

This role is a great opportunity for someone with junior HR business partnering, HR consulting or HR project experience who wants to develop further. You will combine analytical thinking with hands-on delivery, helping leaders and HR colleagues turn business priorities into practical people solutions.

The team
You will work closely with the Head of HR Retail NL, HR Business Partners, business stakeholders, HR Centres of Expertise and People Services. The team focuses on translating business priorities into clear people actions that support performance, development and future workforce needs.

You will be part of a collaborative HR environment where you can learn from experienced colleagues, contribute to meaningful projects and build broad HRBP experience. Depending on business needs, the role may involve working across different domains, giving you exposure to a variety of HR topics, stakeholder groups and business challenges.

Roles and responsibilities
In this role, you will:

  • Support HR projects across Retail NL, including workforce planning, capability building, performance culture and transformation initiatives

  • Partner with HR Business Partners and business leaders to prepare and follow up on people-related decisions

  • Contribute to core HR cycles such as performance, talent, succession and reward by helping with preparation, coordination, insights and follow-up

  • Translate people data and business input into clear insights that support decision-making

  • Help develop and implement upskilling and reskilling initiatives linked to business and transformation goals

  • Support change initiatives by creating structure, tracking progress and keeping stakeholders aligned

  • Work with HR Centres of Expertise and People Services to apply global HR solutions in a local business context

  • Build trusted relationships across HR and the business by being proactive, curious and reliable

  • Contribute to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives by supporting practical actions and progress tracking

  • Learn by doing, gradually building the experience needed to grow into a broader HR Business Partner role

How to succeed
We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

  • You have experience in a junior HR business partnering, HR consulting, HR project or related people-focused role, and you are ready to take the next step

  • You enjoy working on both strategic themes and practical delivery, helping to turn ideas into clear actions and outcomes

  • You bring strong analytical skills and are comfortable working with data to understand business issues and support people decisions

  • You communicate clearly in English and can build trust with colleagues across HR and the business; Dutch language skills are helpful

  • You are curious about HR topics such as talent, performance, workforce planning, change, reward and organisational development

  • You can organise work well, keep momentum in projects and manage several priorities without losing attention to detail

  • You are comfortable asking questions, learning from experienced colleagues and taking ownership of your own development

  • You collaborate easily with different stakeholders and know how to adapt your approach to the audience and context

  • You have a pragmatic mindset and like solving problems in a structured, thoughtful way

  • A background in business, HR, economics, econometrics, psychology, organisational studies or another analytical field can help you succeed in this role
