We're seeking an experienced HR System Administrator to join the Human Resources team at Mater in Newstead until December 2027. In this role, you'll play a critical part in supporting, maintaining, and enhancing Mater's Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), ensuring they remain reliable, secure, and aligned with business and legislative requirements.

You'll work closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, Digital Technology & Information teams, vendors, and end users to deliver system improvements, troubleshoot issues, manage system releases, and drive continuous improvement across our HR technology landscape.

Salary range: $54.57 to $59.38 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

As an HR System Administrator, you'll provide technical and functional support across Mater's HR systems while contributing to system improvements and business process optimisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, testing, and implementing system releases, fixes, enhancements, and upgrades
  • Maintaining system configuration, security settings, user access, permissions, and core setup tables
  • Supporting HR systems to ensure ongoing alignment with business and legislative requirements
  • Identifying, analysing, troubleshooting, and resolving system issues and faults
  • Liaising with software vendors and internal stakeholders regarding performance, availability, system reliability, and support matters
  • Monitoring system interfaces, scheduled processes, integrations, and automated workflows
  • Developing and maintaining reports, dashboards, and ad hoc reporting solutions
  • Supporting end users through telephone, online, and face-to-face assistance
  • Assisting with user documentation, training materials, guides, and system communications
  • Supporting change management and incident management activities in line with ITIL principles
  • Contributing to system governance, security reviews, process documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives

About you

You're a customer-focused systems professional who combines technical capability with strong stakeholder engagement skills. You enjoy finding practical solutions, simplifying processes, and helping users get the most from technology.

You'll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Human Resources, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience administering HR Information Systems (HRIS)
  • Experience in HR, payroll, workforce management, rostering, or related systems environments
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with system configuration, security administration, and user access management
  • Knowledge of reporting tools and developing regular and ad hoc reports
  • Experience supporting software upgrades, releases, and enhancements
  • Understanding of change management and incident management frameworks (ITIL desirable)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A commitment to customer service and continuous improvement
  • Experience within a healthcare environment will be highly regarded

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
