This role is based at Sagamihara, Japan.
The HR Specialist reports directly to the Human Resources Manager and plays a key role in delivering high-quality payroll and human resources services. This position supports payroll operations, employee data management, social insurance administration, and HR services while helping to foster a positive workplace environment and ensuring compliance with local regulations.
This is a fully site-based role. Working together in person enables close collaboration, timely problem-solving, and the technical precision required to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
Manage monthly payroll and bonus processing, including data preparation, validation, and submission
Act as the primary point of contact for employee payroll-related inquiries
Coordinate and communicate with external payroll vendors
Administer social insurance enrollment, updates, and employee-related procedures
Prepare and provide payroll-related reports and data to the Finance team
Manage the annual year-end tax adjustment process and ensure compliance with local requirements
Human Resources Services
Maintain and update employee records and personal information in Workday
Support time and attendance management processes
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of HR data and employee records
Assist with various HR activities and projects as required
Additional Responsibilities
Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the Human Resources Manager
Qualifications and Experience
Required
Associate's or Bachelor's degree
Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll administration and social insurance management within a multinational organization
Native-level Japanese language proficiency and strong English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with regional APAC stakeholders
Solid understanding of Japanese employment law, payroll practices, compensation programs, and employee relations
Strong interpersonal, communication, and data management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and HRIS/HRMS platforms
Team-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail and accuracy
