Job Description

The Opportunity

Ulteig and its affiliated companies are hiring for an HR Specialist to serve as the primary HR Operations point of contact for Costa Rica while partnering with global HR teams supporting the United States, Canada, and future international locations. This role is responsible for the execution of Costa Rica HR Operations processes while also contributing to global HR Operations activities, including onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, HRIS transactions, documentation, and employee lifecycle processes across supported countries.

As part of a global HR Operations team, this role will execute and continuously improve HR processes across multiple countries while bringing valuable local expertise to ensure processes are practical, compliant, and aligned with employee needs. This position will play a key role in helping scale HR operations into new regions as the organization grows.

This position requires a high degree of independence, accuracy, and judgment when handling sensitive employee data. In addition to executing HR operations, this role will help document, improve, and standardize processes, workflows, and employee resources to support scalable HR operations.

**Please note that resumes must be submitted in English for the application to be considered. **

What You’ll Do

  • Own HR Operations execution for Costa Rica across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, in-person orientation, benefits administration, HRIS transactions, offboarding, employee inquiry support, and employee records management. Partner closely with HR, IT, Payroll, Facilities, managers, and global HR teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant execution of HR processes while delivering a seamless employee experience.
  • Execute end-to-end onboarding and offboarding processes across supported countries, coordinating contracts, employee communications, orientation, Day 1 logistics and experiences, required documentation, and offboarding activities while partnering with global HR teams to continuously improve processes and employee experience.
  • Support benefits administration across supported countries, including enrollments, life events, terminations, tuition reimbursement support, employee communications, and coordination with payroll and external benefit providers.
  • Administer HR systems and employee data, including UKG, Deel, and ServiceNow workflows, ensuring accurate processing, data integrity, compliance, and audit readiness. Serve as the subject matter expert and primary administrator for Deel.
  • Execute immigration and global mobility processes, including travel-related documentation, visa support, tracking, and compliance requirements. Partner with global HR teams, legal counsel, and external providers to execute immigration workflows, document processes, and support future country expansion.
  • Partner with global HR teams to document, improve, and standardize HR operational processes, including creating, maintaining, and improving SOPs, workflows, checklists, FAQs, and employee resources. Provide local country insights and feedback to ensure processes are effective, compliant, and scalable.
  • Maintain employee records and compliance documentation, including employment documents, amendments, termination records, immigration documentation, and other HR files, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and audit readiness.
  • Additional responsibilities may include supporting special projects, collaborating with HR team members, and contributing to new initiatives as business needs evolve. A willingness to adapt to changing priorities, learn new processes, and support team efforts is essential to success in this role.

What We Expect from You

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2–4+ years of experience in HR Operations, HR Administration, HRIS, Shared Services, or a similar operational HR role.
  • Experience working with HR systems such as UKG, Deel, ServiceNow, or similar platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data integrity, with the ability to execute accurate HR transactions and maintain compliance across payroll, immigration, benefits, and employee data.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and sound judgment, with the ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, prioritize effectively, and recognize when to seek guidance or escalate complex issues.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing business needs, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team player with a continuous improvement mindset, curiosity to learn new technologies, and a willingness to leverage AI and other digital tools responsibly to improve efficiency, streamline processes, and enhance employee experience.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid mode schedule.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written English communication skills (CEFR level B2–C1). You should be comfortable articulating complex ideas and collaborating effectively within a global professional environment.
  • Must have authorization to work legally in Costa Rica for any employer.

As you consider applying for a position, we encourage you to think outside the box – because we do! You might not meet 100% of the skills listed in a description, but we are committed to hiring people with exceptional talent, ability and potential, and then creating an environment where they can become the best versions of themselves.
