We are seeking a Human Resources & Payroll Coordinator to join our growing team. This individual will support day-to-day HR and payroll activities across both corporate operations in BC and site operations in the Yukon. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple areas of HR administration and payroll processing in a dynamic environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Human Resources
- Support recruitment activities including posting opportunities, coordinating interviews, screening applicants, and assisting with hiring administration
- Prepare and maintain employee documentation such as employment contracts, onboarding packages, leave documentation, and termination paperwork
- Coordinate onboarding, offboarding, and employee status changes across multiple entities
- Assist with administration of employee benefit programs including extended health coverage and Health Spending Accounts
- Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, employee handbooks, and job descriptions
- Ensure employee files and HR records are accurate, organized, and compliant with applicable BC and Yukon employment legislation
- Identify and recommend improvements to HR workflows, systems, and administrative processes
Payroll
- Administer end-to-end payroll processing for salaried and hourly employees, including rotational schedules, overtime, and shift premiums
- Maintain employee payroll information within systems such as ADP or similar payroll platforms
- Ensure payroll activities comply with CRA regulations, including source deductions, remittances, and year-end reporting requirements such as T4 preparation
- Prepare and coordinate payroll-related filings including Employer Health Tax and Workers’ Compensation reporting for BC and Yukon jurisdictions
- Reconcile payroll records and assist with internal or external audit requests as needed
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 4 years of Canadian payroll and human resources experience, including experience processing payroll in Yukon
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required; CPHR BC & Yukon designation considered an asset
- Solid understanding of payroll and employment legislation in both BC and Yukon
- Experience working with ADP or comparable payroll software
- Prior exposure to mining, industrial, or resource-sector environments is considered an asset
- Familiarity with Yukon averaging agreements is beneficial
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive employee information appropriately
