Job Description
About AWS
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a dynamic, growing business unit within Amazon.com. Since 2006, AWS has provided companies of all sizes with a cloud infrastructure platform — offering compute power, storage, and a broad set of services that power millions of active customers worldwide, from start-ups to multinational corporations and governments. AWS delivers a highly reliable, scalable, and cost-effective platform that underpins Amazon.com's multi-billion-dollar retail business and beyond.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced HR Partner to join our Builder Experience Team (BeXT), supporting AWS across Australia and New Zealand. This is a high-profile role where you'll operate as a trusted advisor to leaders and Builders across all AWS in the ANZ region.
You'll spend your time consulting with leaders on complex people matters — from performance improvement plans and retention conversations to sensitive ER cases. You'll deep dive into data to understand culture sentiment, partner on org health reviews, and coach managers through ambiguous situations.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment — someone who brings strong independent judgement, deep consulting capability, and the ability to handle complex, sensitive situations with confidence and discretion.
Key job responsibilities
- Coach and consult leaders on performance management, talent reviews, retention, and people development
- Manage employee relations cases end-to-end, including workplace investigations
- Provide high-judgement guidance through ambiguous and sensitive situations
- Champion inclusion, culture sentiment, and the overall leader experience
- Influence and collaborate across all levels
- Promote self-service adoption and reduce transactional workload
- Mentor HR professionals and contribute to global projects
Why Amazon?
Beyond joining one of the world's most customer-centric companies, you'll enjoy a range of benefits that make Amazon a great place to work:
- Dogs at Work: our popular program proven to lower stress and boost morale, running successfully across our Australian corporate offices
- Commuter benefits, helping you save on the cost of your daily commute
- Subsidised health insurance for you and your dependents, on top of salary continuance (income protection) and life insurance
- Inclusive culture: Amazon celebrates diversity of background, experience, and thought as a key driver of innovation and our mission to be the most customer-centric company in the world
This position requires full-time in-office presence 5 days per week at our CBD location.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of HR generalist or HR Business Partner experience
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with high judgement, ownership, and autonomy
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging and influencing senior executives
- Proven experience in employee relations, including handling difficult situations and people
- Experience managing performance management cycles, talent reviews, and retention strategies
- Good understanding of Australian and New Zealand employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Business/Management, Psychology, or a related field
- Experience working as an HR Business Partner in a tech or metrics-driven organisation
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to inform people decisions
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
