Driven by a purpose of powering futures and creating enduring legacies, we deliver complex infrastructure solutions that connect and transform communities. For over 45 years, our diverse portfolio of projects and roles has provided exceptional opportunities for our people to grow and make a lasting impact. As part of our team, you'll help deliver challenging projects while being supported by strong leadership and an inclusive, people-first culture.

Who We're Looking For

With a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming projects, BMD has an exciting opportunity for an HR Officer to join our Darwin Ship Lift Project team.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will provide recruitment and HR administration support across the project, partnering with leaders and employees to deliver a high-quality people experience. This role is ideal for a proactive and organised HR professional looking to build their career within a dynamic construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment activities for blue and white-collar positions, including advertising, sourcing, screening, reference checking and onboarding.
  • Lead proactive talent attraction initiatives, including market mapping and talent pooling for future workforce requirements.
  • Assess candidate suitability against BMD's values, culture and technical requirements.
  • Provide advice and support to managers on recruitment and general HR matters.
  • Support employee engagement, retention and workforce development initiatives.
  • Coordinate training and professional development requirements, including maintaining training records and databases.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external agencies, government bodies and training providers.
  • Maintain Indigenous Participation Strategies and support BMD's Reconciliation Action Plan initiatives.
  • Manage project reporting requirements relating to training, workforce participation and government compliance obligations.
  • Assist with HR administration, employee movements and payroll-related enquiries.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Human Resources function.

What You'll Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in recruitment, HR coordination or HR administration.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and confidence learning new systems.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Professional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of responsibilities.
