Our client is an operational non profit organization with a mission to strengthen child protection and prevent child sexual abuse. They currently have an opening for a HR Officer

.

The Junior Human Resources Officer will provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the HR function, ensuring smooth people operations across our clients business. The role supports recruitment, staff documentation, onboarding, performance processes, staff welfare
initiatives, and compliance with internal policies—helping to build a structured, professional, and child-safe organisation.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, people-centred professional who is passionate about social impact and organisational development.

Key Responsibilities

1. HR Administration & Records

Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee files (contracts, ID documents, appraisals,
leave records, disciplinary records).
Manage HR documentation including offer letters, contracts, confirmations, and exit
letters.
Maintain the HR database and staff trackers.
Support payroll inputs, staff attendance, and leave management processes.

2. Recruitment & Onboarding

Support recruitment processes: posting roles, scheduling interviews, communicating with
candidates.
Prepare interview packs, shortlisting trackers, and assessment documentation.
Coordinate onboarding of new hires, including induction schedules, documentation, and
orientation materials.
Support background checks and safeguarding documentation where required.

3. Performance & Staff Support

Assist with performance management cycles, appraisal documentation, and review
scheduling.
Provide administrative support for staff training, capacity-building sessions, and retreats.
Support staff welfare initiatives, engagement activities, and internal communications.
Act as a first-line support for basic HR queries.

4. Policy Implementation & Compliance

Support implementation of HR policies, staff handbook, and code of conduct.
Assist with tracking staff acknowledgment of policies and safeguarding protocols.
Support compliance with labour regulations and internal governance standards.
Promote a professional, respectful, and child-safe workplace culture.

5. HR Reporting & Coordination

Prepare monthly HR reports (headcount, recruitment updates, training, leave,
performance).
Support HR audits, documentation reviews, and organisational restructuring processes.
Assist the HR Lead/Operations team with special projects and organisational
development initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a

  • related field

  • 2–3 years’ experience in HR administration or people operations (NGO experience is an

  • advantage)

  • Basic knowledge of Nigerian labour law and HR best practices

  • HR certification is an advantage
