Role: HR Manager, Kolkata
Experience: 8+ Years

Note: Experience in the social sector will be preferred.

About the role:

We are seeking an HR Manager to support and strengthen our organization's human resources strategy. This role will be responsible for managing HR functions, ensuring compliance with labour laws, enhancing employee engagement, and fostering a positive organizational culture. The ideal candidate will have experience in the social sector and a deep commitment to social impact and will be an advocate for employee well-being and organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Talent Acquisition & Recruitment:

  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract and retain talent in line with the organization's mission and values.
  • Manage the recruitment process, from job posting to interviewing and hiring.
  • Partner with hiring managers to define job descriptions, identify key competencies, and align hiring with organizational needs.

2. Employee Onboarding & Development:

  • Oversee the onboarding process to ensure new hires are well-integrated into the team and the organization's culture.
  • Coordinate employee development programs, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Support employees in their career growth, including mentoring, skill-building, and leadership development.

3. Performance Management:

  • Implement and manage performance review systems and feedback mechanisms.
  • Provide guidance on goal setting, performance appraisals, and career progression.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement through feedback loops and development plans.

4. Employee Relations & Well-being:

  • Act as a point of contact for employee concerns, resolving conflicts and promoting positive employee relations.
  • Advocate for staff well-being, supporting initiatives related to mental health, work-life balance, and team engagement.
  • Promote a healthy, inclusive, and diverse workplace environment.

5. HR Policies & Compliance:

  • Ensure the organization's HR policies are aligned with labor laws, regulations, and best practices in the social sector.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR trends, social sector regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with organizational policies and procedures, addressing any violations when necessary.

6. Compensation & Benefits:

  • Support the design and administration of compensation and benefits programs, ensuring alignment with the organization's budget and market standards.
  • Regularly review compensation structures and employee benefits to remain competitive and equitable.

7. Organizational Culture:

  • Promote and sustain a positive organizational culture that reflects the organization's mission and values.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration and teamwork across departments.
  • Lead initiatives to celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the workplace.

8. Data Management & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR data.
  • Prepare regular HR reports on key metrics such as turnover, hiring trends, and employee satisfaction.
  • Utilize data to drive decision-making and improvements in HR processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or HR certifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of HR experience.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of HR functions such as recruitment, performance management, employee relations, and compensation.
  • Ability to work with a diverse workforce, understanding the unique challenges in the social sector.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to navigate sensitive issues with empathy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Knowledge of HRIS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
