Job Description

The Human Resources Intern is responsible for supporting key HR functions, assisting with recruiting, onboarding, employee data, and system-related tasks. This position reports to the Manager of Talent Development and works closely with the broader HR team. The HR Intern plays a hands-on role in driving talent initiatives by helping manage job postings, coordinate interviews, troubleshoot HRIS issues, and support internal hiring processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the “Cavender’s Culture” and drive our Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Provide support in carrying out the day-to-day HR activities in the home office.
  • Assist with job postings, candidate tracking, and resume reviews.
  • Participate in the interview scheduling process and candidate communications.
  • Support onboarding activities, including preparation of new hire paperwork and coordination of orientation sessions.
  • Help maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy in the HRIS.
  • Assist store teams by troubleshooting basic HRIS and internal hiring system issues.
  • Support internal projects related to employee engagement, training, and performance management.
  • Attend team meetings and gain exposure to HR practices and policies.
  • Perform general administrative duties to support the HR team.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in Human Resources as a career path.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); comfort with learning new systems.
  • Based in Tyler, TX at our Home Office; Tyler area residence.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Possesses excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work individually on a project or within a team environment.
  • Willingness to take initiative and contribute to a variety of HR functions.
