Job Description

The HR Generalist is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support which includes driving the effective execution of HR processes, HR compliance, coworker engagement and administrative matters. This position may provide coaching and guidance to management and coworkers and may recommend solutions to business/compliance issues. The HR Generalist will partner closely with HRBPs and other HR functions to provide solutions that drive the company’s success. The HR Generalist is approachable, adaptable to changing priorities and business needs and is solutions oriented, providing general administrative support that allows the HR business partner team to focus on higher-complexity work.

The position may require occasional travel to support Retail Store and field locations, as business needs require.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • HR Compliance & Operations Support
  • Ensures HR processes and Operation HR Compliance standards are effectively executed and maintained across Retail Store and Non-Store locations
  • Coordinates and deliver HR compliance activities, immigration processing, I-9 compliance, backgrounds, etc.
  • Establishes and maintains accurate documentation and recordkeeping in accordance with company policy, procedure, and regulatory requirements
  • Partners and supports the Sr. HR Manager and Sr HRBP team to ensure efficient day-to-day HR operations
  • Follows up with field leaders to ensure timely completion of required HR documentation
  • Coworker Relations, Guidance & Policy Support
  • Primary contact for field leaders and coworkers on routine coworker relations and administrative matters, escalating more complex inquiries to HRBPs as appropriate
  • Liaison connecting managers and coworkers with the appropriate HR resource or subject-matter expert (e.g., LOA administration, Benefits, Compensation, Payroll)
  • Advises supervisors and managers on the consistent application and interpretation of company policy to promote fairness across the business
  • Builds trusted, collaborative relationships with field leaders and HRBPs in support of consistent policy administration
  • Supports managers with performance-related guidance
  • Training, Development & Employee Engagement
  • Counsels managers, supervisors, and coworkers on available on-the-job and formal training opportunities to support skill development and career advancement, including preparation of Professional Growth Plans
  • Participates in team learning and calibration sessions to build subject-matter knowledge across the full scope of HRBP responsibilities
  • Collaborates with Senior HR Managers and HRBPs to design and support programs that foster a positive, engaged work environment
  • Contributes to the development of employee engagement plans and supports execution of department goals and objectives
  • Counsel managers, supervisors, and employees about on-the-job and formal training opportunities to develop new skills and prepare for advancement. Support managers in preparing Professional Growth Plans.
  • Partners with HR leadership on proactive employee relations initiatives, including structured feedback sessions and recognition programs
  • New Hire Onboarding Support
  • Supports the onboarding process for new hires, partnering with HR teams and field leaders to implement and execute onboarding plans
  • Educates newly hired coworkers on HR policies, internal procedures, and applicable regulations
  • Ensures new hire documentation and compliance requirements are completed accurately and on time
  • Provide other miscellaneous administrative support to Sr HR Manager and Sr HRBPs as required by the needs of the business.

Education and Experience:

  • Level of Formal Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Area of Study: Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or related field
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 3
  • Type of Experience: 3+ years of work experience in the HR field including employee/associate relations, performance management, policy administration, onboarding/offboarding, and compliance recordkeeping.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience supporting Retail or multi-unit field organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills to interact with colleagues, cross-functional teams and third parties.
  • Oracle HCM experience; experience generating regular and ad-hoc reports tailored to HR metrics
  • Special Certifications: PHR, SPHR or GPHR preferred
  • Technical Competencies & Information Systems: MS Office, Visio, HRM Systems (Oracle, Workday, etc.)
