Job Description

The Human Resources Generalist supports the day-to-day administration of human resources programs and initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven workplace. This position partners with leaders and employees to provide guidance on recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, leave administration, performance management, training, compliance, and HR policies. The HR Generalist ensures compliance with employment laws and organizational policies while helping create an environment where employees can successfully support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role requires strong communication, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to confidentiality and exceptional customer service.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

· Serve as a resource for employees and supervisors regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment practices.

· Respond to employee questions in a timely, professional, and confidential manner.

· Coordinate full-cycle recruitment for assigned positions.

· Develop and post job advertisements through applicant tracking systems and recruitment platforms.

· Screen applicants and coordinate interviews.

· Facilitate pre-employment activities including background checks, reference checks, drug screening (if applicable), and employment verification.

· Conduct new employee orientation and onboarding to ensure positive employee experience.

· Administer leave programs including FMLA, ADA accommodations, military leave, workers' compensation, and other organizational leave policies.

· Coordinate return-to-work processes and maintain required documentation.

· Prepare HR reports and maintain compliance documentation.

· Assist with unemployment claims and employment verifications.

· Maintain accurate employee personnel files and HRIS records.

· Monitor completion of mandatory training requirements.

· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.

· Support accreditation, licensing, and audit requirements applicable to IDD service providers.

· Maintain I-9 documentation and employment eligibility records.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

· One to three years of responsible Human Resources experience.

· Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, social services, or an IDD organization preferred, but not required.

· Experience administering employee relations, leave management, and recruitment preferred, but not required.

Physical & Work Requirements

· Standard office environment with hybrid work flexibility

· Some evening and weekend work required

· Ability to lift minimum 40lbs
