Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resource Coordinator supports the leadership team with a full spectrum of human resource activities including responding to HR inquiries and administrative support requests from various stake holders. Independently managing their set portfolios, the HR Coordinator assists the Manager of HR with reporting, recruitment, WSIB, maintain employee records, complete other duties as needed to ensure operational excellence and efficient team member support.

Activities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR related inquiries and requests, responding in accordance with established guidelines
  • Independently manage respective portfolios as assigned by the Manager of HR. HR portfolios are inclusive but not limited to:
    • HR administration
    • WSIB
    • Recruitment
    • Attendance Management Program
    • Onboarding and orientation
    • Offboarding
    • Benefit management
    • Payroll support
    • Address general inquiries regarding HR policies, programs, and practices in various areas such as benefits, pay and WSIB.
    • Support hiring managers in meeting staffing needs by screening resumes and candidates calls, scheduling interviews, completing reference checks, and collecting required documents;
    • Ensuring the job postings accurately depict available positions
    • Draft employment correspondence including employment agreements, new hire information packages and managing onboarding and orientation processes
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee information in the HR systems by processing all status changes, salary changes, benefit enrollments and any other applicable changes
    • Managing leave and paid time off programs in the HR systems, such as vacation, and other approved leaves of absence;
    • Ensuring strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee issues
    • Responsible for WSIB file handling, including submissions, follow-ups and incident management as well as supporting non-occupational injury file management;
    • Be the secondary backup for payroll processing, including; bi-weekly updates to employee files, tracking vacation, worked public holidays and absences, inputting exceptions, hourly employee validations, and benefit changes
    • Analyze human resources policies to make innovative changes to improve morale, efficiency and overall performance;
    • Conduct monthly reporting and as required supporting the Home’s various departments and leadership team;
    • Other HR duties as assigned.

About Humber Meadows Long Term Care Home

Humber Meadows Long-Term Care Home is a not-for-profit, charitable incorporated home affiliated with the Humber River Hospital Corporation. We are proud to be a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPS) Pre-Designated through the Registered Nursing Association of Ontario (RNAO).

In partnership with the Ministry of Long-Term Care, Humber Meadows is a 320-bed long-term care home located at 2109 Finch Avenue West, in the City of Toronto (Finch Avenue and Highway 400).

Humber Meadows Long-Term Care Home aspires to create a feeling of home for every resident while ensuring high-quality care. Residents will have access to daily nursing care as well as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, medication management and dialysis services, as needed. Three nutritious meals will be available daily, along with an afternoon and evening snack, and morning, afternoon and evening beverages.

Humber Meadows will offer a variety of recreational, social and spiritual activities, making use of the home’s beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces. Regular outings will ensure ongoing engagement with the local community.

Humber Meadows will also pursue designation as a Butterfly Model home. The Butterfly Model focuses on delivering emotion-focused care that connects with people in a dignified, human way. It addresses the holistic needs of the individuals and supports quality of life for each person living with dementia across the whole of their lived experience. Many of the program and construction design elements of the home already match the model.
