THE ROLE:

The purpose of the Human Resources Coordinator is to ensure that the smooth operation of our staff housing, controls the hiring process of line employees and administrative support for the Human Resources Manager. The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for filling line positions in a timely manner, understanding and enforcement of company policies and assisting the Human Resources Manager with other administrative duties as required.

ACTIVITIES:

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner.
  • Create all personnel action forms and database modifications
  • Responsible for maximizing occupancy in all residences in the most efficient manner
  • Perform routine room checks for damage and maintenance opportunities
  • Greet applicants and distribute applications
  • Check applications to ensure they are completed
  • Respond to resumes
  • Conduct screening interviews
  • Schedule appointments with Department Managers and candidates for interviews
  • Conduct reference checks
  • Facilitate new employee orientation
  • Create and oversee a positive arrival experience for all colleagues
  • Assist with recruitment efforts, job fairs, recruitment process and coordinate recruitment administration
  • Maintain and process employee reservations requests
  • Prepare job postings and process position requisitions
  • Prepare and photocopy orientation packages
  • Prepare name tags as required
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Administrative support to the Human Resources Manager and handling of confidential documents
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Algonquin standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper business attire and nametag when working.
  • Comply at all times with Algonquin standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING:

  • Previous supervisory/management and payroll/human resources experience is preferred
  • Hospitality or Post Secondary Degree an asset
  • Computer literate in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience in a hotel or a related field preferred
