PAL operates diverse programs for children as young as 2 years old to young adults. Programs include Head Start, after-school programs and summer day camps for elementary, middle and high school youth, and summer Playstreets. PAL also runs evening teen centers and college readiness programs, youth employment, and juvenile justice programs. Position Summary
The HR Compliance Coordinator will provide temporary, part-time support to the Human Resources Department in ensuring employees meet PAL's employment and regulatory compliance requirements. This position will focus heavily on reviewing employee records, monitoring outstanding compliance items, following up with employees and supervisors, and maintaining accurate compliance documentation.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with confidential employee information, and able to manage a high volume of follow-up activities in a fast-paced environment.
Hourly

Rate: $30.00–$32.00 per hour
Work Schedule and Temporary Assignment:
This is an 8-week temporary, part-time assignment intended to provide additional HR compliance support during a high-volume period.
- Approximately 25–29 hours per week.
- Hybrid work arrangement.
- Wednesdays and Thursdays are mandatory in-person days.
- Additional remote hours will be scheduled based on business needs and supervisor approval.
Essential Responsibilities
- Review employee personnel and compliance records to identify outstanding or missing documentation.
- Monitor and follow up on employee compliance requirements, including:
- I-9 employment authorization documentation and verification
- Background checks
- Fingerprinting and clearance requirements
- OCFS and other applicable regulatory clearances
- Required employment and program documentation
- Contact employees and supervisors regarding outstanding compliance items and provide clear instructions on required next steps.
- Maintain and update HR compliance trackers and reports to accurately reflect employee status.
- Assist with monitoring employee clearance and compliance deadlines and escalate overdue items to the HR Manager.
- Review documentation submitted by employees for completeness and accuracy.
- Assist with organizing and maintaining electronic and physical employee records in accordance with PAL procedures.
- Enter and update employee information and compliance documentation in Paycom and other applicable systems.
- Prepare reports and lists identifying employees who are compliant, pending, or out of compliance.
- Assist HR with compliance audits and data reconciliation.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee records and sensitive information.
- Communicate professionally with employees, supervisors, and HR staff regarding compliance requirements.
- Perform other HR administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in Human Resources, HR administration, compliance, onboarding, or a related administrative role preferred.
- Experience working with employee records, background checks, I-9s, or HR systems is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar productivity tools.
- Experience with Paycom or another HRIS is a plus.
