Job Description

Strategic HR Business Partner – Technology

Shape the workforce and culture behind one of Australia’s most important technology transformations.

CBA Technology sits at the centre of the Bank’s strategy—building the platforms, capabilities and experiences that millions of Australians rely on every day. As AI reshapes how we work, serve customers and create value, our Technology teams are helping define what the future of banking looks like.

We’re looking for an exceptional Strategic HR Business Partner to work with a senior Technology leadership team and lead a significant workforce and culture transformation agenda.

This is not a business-as-usual HR role. It’s an opportunity to influence the shape of a major division, challenge conventional thinking and create the organisational conditions for brilliant people and emerging technologies to perform at their best.

The opportunity

As a trusted adviser to senior executives, you’ll translate business strategy into an ambitious people strategy—bringing together strategic workforce forecast, organisational design, leadership, talent, capability and culture.

You’ll help leaders navigate complexity, accelerate transformation and build the skills, operating models and ways of working needed for an AI-enabled future.

Your impact will include:

  • Shaping and delivering a multi-year workforce and culture transformation strategy aligned to the CBA’s priorities

  • Advising senior leaders on organisational design, operating models, future skills, workforce composition and work redesign

  • Building a forward-looking workforce plan that anticipates the impact of AI, automation and new technologies

  • Strengthening leadership capability, succession pipelines and talent density across critical technology segments

  • Embed skilling pathways for our internal people to continue to learn, grow their careers and develop

  • Using workforce insights and commercial judgement to challenge assumptions and improve decision-making

  • Leading complex change across structures, capabilities, culture and ways of working

  • Creating an environment where high performance, innovation, inclusion and accountability reinforce one another

What you’ll bring

You are a commercially minded, highly credible HR leader who is energised by transformation, ambiguity and scale. You know how to build trust with senior executives while bringing an independent point of view and the courage to challenge constructively.

You’ll bring:

  • Significant experience partnering with senior executives in a complex, large-scale organisation

  • A strong track record in workforce transformation, organisational design, strategic workforce planning and culture change

  • The ability to connect business strategy, technology trends and people outcomes

  • Strong commercial acumen and confidence working with data, operating metrics and workforce insights

  • Experience influencing across complex stakeholder environments and turning strategy into sustained execution

  • A contemporary perspective on talent, skills, leadership and the future of work

  • The judgement to balance pace, performance, risk and employee experience

  • A learning orientation and growth mindset

  • Experience within a technology, digital, engineering, data or product-led organisation will be highly regarded

Why CBA Technology?

You’ll work at the intersection of people, technology and enterprise transformation on challenges that are complex, visible and genuinely consequential.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Influence leaders shaping the future of Australia’s largest bank

  • Help build an AI-ready workforce at significant scale

  • Work alongside some of the country’s leading technology, engineering, data and digital talent

  • Lead transformation that goes well beyond traditional HR

  • Make a measurable difference to performance, culture and the experiences of our people and customers

This role will suit someone who sets a high bar, thinks beyond established HR playbooks and wants their work to have enterprise-level impact.
