The Human Resources Business Partner partners closely with leaders across retail stores and contact centre operations to drive business performance through strategic people partnership, operational excellence, and people-centric leadership.
This role is responsible for enabling effective people practices across talent, culture, engagement, employee relations, leadership capability, and organisational effectiveness within a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment.
The successful incumbent must be commercially minded, hands-on, and comfortable balancing strategic partnership with operational execution across dynamic business areas.
Travel between regional stores may be required from time to time.
Strategic Business Partnership
Partner with business leaders to align people initiatives to operational and commercial objectives.
Provide insight and challenge to leaders on organisational effectiveness, culture, workforce capability, and leadership effectiveness.
Use people data and insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the business.
Employee Relations & Workplace Climate
Provide operational ER guidance to leaders across stores and contact centre operations.
Support the management of disciplinary processes, grievances, incapacity matters, investigations, and conflict resolution.
Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation and company policies.
Talent & Performance Management
Drive talent management, succession planning, performance management, and capability development processes.
Coach leaders on performance improvement, talent identification, and team effectiveness.
Support workforce planning and organisational development initiatives where required.
Employee Engagement & Culture
Support engagement initiatives and action planning processes to improve employee experience and culture.
Facilitate people-related workshops, discussions, and interventions across operational teams.
Act as a visible and credible HR partner within the business.
Change Management & Organisational Effectiveness
Support business transformation, restructuring, and change initiatives.
Assist leaders with communication, stakeholder management, and change adoption.
Drive initiatives that improve operational effectiveness, collaboration, accountability, and culture alignment.
Partner with Centres of Excellence to deliver integrated people solutions to the business.
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, or related field.
Postgraduate qualification in HR or Business Management will be advantageous.
3 – 5 Years in a similar role
Experience supporting operational environments such as retail, contact centres, FMCG, or high-volume customer environments.
Knowledge & Technical Competencies
Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR best practice.
Understanding of organisational development, workforce planning, and talent management principles.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
Commercial acumen and business understanding.
Ability to interpret and use people data to drive decision-making.
Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems.
