We are seeking a strategic and hands-on HR Business Partner (HRBP) to drive employee relations and compliance initiatives that foster a positive, high-performing, and legally sound workplace. This role will also contribute to learning and development efforts that strengthen leadership capabilities and support employee growth across the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to department leaders, providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Partner with managers to address workplace concerns, mediate conflicts, and facilitate resolutions that balance firm needs with employee engagement.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including California labor laws, and ensure HR policies are consistently applied.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify talent gaps, provide guidance on recruitment and retention strategies, and support succession planning initiatives.
  • Assist in disciplinary actions and coaching managers to effectively handle employee development and performance issues.
  • Contribute to HR initiatives, including employee engagement programs, training sessions, and professional development opportunities, in collaboration with broader HR team.
  • Act as a point of contact for employee questions, ensuring timely and accurate HR support.
  • Partner with leadership to assess training needs and implement scalable learning solutions that align with firm goals and enhance organizational performance.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in an HR business partner or generalist role.
  • Strong expertise in employee relations, HR compliance, and learning & development
  • Familiarity with California employment law and HR best practices.
  • Experience in a legal or professional services environment is a plus.
  • High emotional intelligence, strong judgment, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field; HR certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP) preferred.
