The Opportunity

Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain and maintain an active Australian Government Defence security clearance at the level required for the position.

As a Senior HR Business Partner, you will act as a trusted advisor to leaders, delivering end-to-end generalist HR support that enables business and mission success. You will partner closely with our Engineering and Technology functional leaders, providing strategic and operational HR advice to support workforce capability, organisational effectiveness, talent, performance, and delivery across critical programs.

Operating in a complex, highly regulated large global organisation, you will work closely with stakeholders to align people strategies with operational priorities, strengthen workforce capability, and support the delivery of complex engineering, systems engineering and technology programs.

This role combines strategic influence with hands-on delivery, offering the opportunity to contribute to meaningful, purpose-driven work while collaborating within a high-performing, values-led HR team.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Engineering and Technology leaders to deliver aligned, practical people solutions across the full employee lifecycle
• Provide operational HR advice, balancing business needs with compliance and governance requirements
• Lead and support core HR activities including workforce planning, talent, performance, engagement, and retention
• Drive effective performance management practices to enhance individual and team outcomes
• Operate effectively within matrix organisational structures, navigating complexity and competing priorities
• Manage complex employee relations matters with sound judgement, discretion, and integrity
• Build strong, trusted relationships to influence and guide decision-making at all levels
• Translate workforce data and insights into actionable strategies
• Collaborate with Centres of Expertise to implement enterprise programs locally
• Ensure compliance with employment legislation and organisational framework

What you will bring

• Proven HR Business Partner experience within the Defence industry, and / or experience supporting Engineering and Systems Engineering disciplines
• Experience partnering with senior Engineering and Technology functional leaders and providing strategic HR advice in complex technical environments
• Strong knowledge of employment legislation and experience operating within regulated environments
• Demonstrated understanding of the workforce, capability, talent and organisational requirements associated with engineering and systems engineering environments
• Strong experience in performance management frameworks and driving performance outcomes
• Experience working within matrix organisations and managing competing stakeholder priorities
• Broad capability across core HR disciplines, including talent acquisition, development, performance, employee relations, and workforce planning
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence, challenge, and guide stakeholders with confidence
