Job Description

Perth Airport is Australia’s Western Hub connecting the people, businesses and communities of Western Australia with the rest of Australia and the world. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the year, Perth Airport plays a significant role in providing economic, social and cultural benefits to West Australians.

Perth Airport is investing more than $5 billion in new infrastructure so we can support our airline partners to grow, offering more services to new destinations and an improved customer experience.

Over the coming decade we will expand T1 International, and build new domestic terminal facilities, a parallel runway, two multi-storey carparks and our first airport hotel. This will deliver one airport for the people of Western Australia which will host all flight services in a central location giving passengers a seamless, world-class travel experience.

The Perth Airport estate is spread over 2100 hectares and has developed a $1.5 billion portfolio of existing industrial premises and significant vacant land holdings.

We service a truly diverse community and play an important role in strengthening cultural, family and social bonds while supporting business, tourism and leisure travel.

About the role

Due to a secondment opportunity, Perth Airport is seeking a HR Business Partner to join us on an 18-month fixed term contract to deliver trusted, high-impact people support for leaders and employees across a diverse portfolio.

Working closely with leaders, you will provide responsive, practical HR advice and coordinate end-to-end people processes, supporting performance matters, employee lifecycle activities, policy and compliance guidance, reporting, and recurring HR cycles. You will also be supported by senior HR team members on complex ER/IR and organisational change matters as you continue to grow your expertise. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support leaders with performance and employee relations processes by preparing templates, letters and records, and escalating complex matters as needed.
  • Provide first-line guidance on policies, codes of conduct and governance requirements, and help leaders apply them consistently.
  • Maintain and update position descriptions and support job evaluation activity using agreed methodologies.
  • Assist with cyclical HR activities (e.g., performance and reward cycles, engagement surveys, talent processes) by coordinating timelines, tracking actions and preparing communications.
  • Prepare HR reporting, basic analysis and people metrics to support decision-making (turnover, engagement themes, workforce movements, etc.).
  • Keep HR processes and internal guides up to date; identify practical improvements that make it easier for leaders and employees to self-serve.
  • Support delivery of people initiatives (culture, inclusion, psychosocial initiatives and change activities) through coordination, communications and stakeholder follow-up.

About You

You’re an early-career HR professional with a practical, service-first mindset, someone who likes getting the details right, keeping processes moving, and supporting leaders with timely, well-prepared HR administration. To support you in succeeding in this role, we’re looking for the following skills, experience and demonstrated behaviours:

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in HR, People & Culture, or a similar generalist/operations role
  • Confidence handling HR administration with attention to detail, records, systems, templates and deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of HR policies and core employee lifecycle processes; willingness to learn awards/agreements and legislation with support.
  • Clear written communication and the ability to prepare well-structured documentation.
  • A customer-focused approach and the ability to build trust with managers and employees.
  • Strong organisation skills: you can manage multiple requests and follow through to completion.
  • Comfort working with data in Excel and HR systems (basic reporting and tracking).
  • Exposure to modern awards / enterprise agreements and basic ER/IR case support
  • Experience supporting performance review or remuneration cycles
