Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for an HR Business Partner to join our successful, thriving, and growing team in South Africa. This is an integral role, designed to act as a trusted partner to our leadership teams, driving both local and global people plans to support our continued expansion across the Southern Africa region.

You will be a proactive driver of initiatives, ensuring that our people strategy is not just a support function, but a key contributor to our operational success and the overall employee experience.

You will combine strong HR generalist capability with strategic ownership of employee relations, statutory compliance, and performance culture. This is a hands-on, high-impact position where you will ensure our people processes are not only compliant with South African labor regulations but are also optimised to improve operational effectiveness. You will be the "on-the-ground" expert, bridging the gap between our global standards and the specific needs of our Southern African operations.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Driving Initiatives: A proven track record of taking ownership of HR projects and driving initiatives that support business growth and employee engagement.
  • Strategic Business Partnering: Experience aligning workforce planning with organisational goals and identifying talent gaps.
  • Legislative Expertise: In-depth knowledge of South African Labour Law, including BBBEE Codes, Employment Equity (EE) legislation, and WSP/ATR submissions.
  • Regional Awareness: A workable knowledge of Labour Laws in Namibia, Mozambique, and Angola to support our wider regional operations.
  • Performance Culture: A commitment to promoting a high-performance culture through effective performance management and skills gap analysis.

Required Competencies

  • Value-Add Mindset: The ability to look beyond standard processes to find ways to improve operational effectiveness and the employee experience.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working within a fast-paced, global framework while maintaining a strong "on-the-ground" presence at a local level.
  • Integrity & Professionalism: Maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality and acting as a poised advisor to the business.

Required Work Experience

  • Strong as a HR Business Partner or HR Generalist experience is essential.
  • Experience working within a global company is preferred
  • Demonstrable experience managing statutory HR compliance and reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with SABPP or a qualification in Labour Law is an added advantage.

Required Languages

  • Must be able to speak and write English
