Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our HR team at a pivotal time in Grant Thornton’s growth. We are seeking a HR Business Partner with strong strategic acumen, deep commercial awareness, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across a complex, high-growth organisation.

This role goes beyond day-to-day HR delivery. The successful candidate will play a key part in shaping and executing our People Strategy, partnering closely with leaders to drive organisational performance, build future capability, and enable a high-performing, inclusive culture.

You will bring strong personal credibility, sound judgement, and an ability to challenge constructively. You will thrive in a dynamic environment and have a track record of using data and insight to inform decision-making, optimise processes, and deliver meaningful business outcomes.

This is a highly visible and impactful opportunity, offering the scope to influence firmwide priorities and contribute to the evolution of a world-class People function.

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic partner to designated business units, using data, insight, and market trends to shape workforce planning, talent strategies, and organisational priorities.
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with senior leaders and people managers, influencing decisions in alignment with firmwide strategy, culture, and long-term talent objectives.
  • Drive strategic people initiatives, ensuring alignment with the Firm’s People Strategy and contributing to the development of future capability across the business.
  • Lead and embed People processes and frameworks (e.g. performance, talent, succession, engagement) ensuring consistency, fairness, and a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Play a key role in change initiatives, supporting transformation projects, organisational design discussions, and firmwide change programmes.
  • Partner cross-functionally across HR, ensuring a seamless and impactful People experience—leveraging Centres of Excellence, People Operations, Learning and Talent teams.
  • Act as a change champion for post-transition adoption of Oracle, supporting leaders and employees in embedding the new system, optimising its use, and driving engagement across assigned business areas.
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and initiatives are future-focused, compliant with evolving legislation, and reflective of best practice in a modern, progressive HR environment.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency, supporting the Firm’s commitment to continuous improvement, digital enablement, and enhanced People experience.

Skills and attributes

  • 7+ years’ experience in a HR Business Partner role with demonstrable strategic impact
  • Strong business and commercial acumen, with an ability to translate business goals into aligned People initiatives
  • Deep understanding of HR best practice, organisational effectiveness, and talent management
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage senior leaders
  • Proven ability to deliver in a fast-paced, agile environment while maintaining high standards
  • Strong analytical capability and ability to use data to guide decisions
  • Degree in HR or related discipline; CIPD qualification desirable

Desirable

  • Experience in professional services or other highly matrixed environments
  • Previous experience with Oracle or involvement in HRIS transitions
