HR and GA Manager will be responsible for leading all aspects of human resources operations, including recruitment, training and development, payroll, compensation, and performance evaluation. In addition to managing the HR team, the manager is expected to be hands-on in day-to-day operations to ensure that HR processes are executed smoothly and efficiently.
This role also supports the Senior Director of HR / General Affairs and may be involved in general affairs duties as needed. Key responsibilities include fostering the growth and development of team members, enhancing employee engagement, and contributing to the continuous improvement of HR and administrative functions.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
The weighting of each area of responsibility will be flexibly adjusted in consultation with supervisor and colleagues, in accordance with annual goals.:
• Management and operation of GGJ HR program/system (20%)
• Compensation and performance management (20%)
• Supervision on payroll and attendance record operation (10%)
• Supervision on recruiting and training program management and operation (30%)
• Support to HR and GA Senior Director’s role and GA operations (20%)
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA is a plus)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR, including team management experience
• Broad knowledge of HR functions including recruitment, compensation, labor law compliance, and employee relations
• Strong leadership and team development skills, with the ability to work hands-on when needed
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
• High level of integrity and confidentiality
• Business-level Japanese required; English proficiency (reading and writing) is a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HR systems

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge and hands-on experience in HR program management including compensation, benefits, payroll operation, etc.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with stakeholders (e.g. business leaders, outside stakeholders, etc.)
• Knowledge and experience in HR platform system (e.g. SAP, Workday, etc.)
• Basic understanding of HR-related laws and regulations
• Knowledge or practical experience in global HR is preferred
• Knowledge or experience in labor relations and general affairs is also desirable
• Proficiency in basic PC skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience using HR information systems such as SuccessFactors or Workday is preferred
• Knowledge of utilizing AI tools to improve efficiency or streamline HR operations is a plus

Supervision/Management of Others
• Experience in interacting and negotiating with key business leaders and/or managers in HR matters
• Ability to manage external HR/GA vendors and subcontractors.
• Experience in supervising one or two assistants or junior staff as a team leader is preferred.

Internal and External Contacts/Relationships
• HRGA Internal: Sr. Director, Sr. Specialist, HRGA Assistants.
• GGJ Internal: GET-JP, business leaders, managers and supervisors.
• External: Local authorities, HR/GA vendors and subcontractors

Environmental/Safety/Physical Work Conditions
• Hybrid work style combining on-site work at the head office and remote work as a general rule
• May be required to work from other office locations depending on business needs, using company-issued equipment such as a laptop and mobile phone
• Workload tends to increase from January to March due to salary reviews and bonus payments
