HR Advisor | Carlisle or Workington | Up to £39,000 | Hybrid Working - Up to 3 days from home

Are you an HR generalist who enjoys being the person managers actually want to pick up the phone to? Looking for a role with proper variety, real employee relations work, and the room to shape how things are done?

This is a permanent HR Advisor role with a well-established, values-led organisation operating right across the North of England. They are genuinely rooted in the communities they serve, so there's a real sense of purpose behind the work. You'd be joining a busy HR team where you're trusted to get on with it, with plenty of meaty casework and the chance to make a real difference.

The Role

You'll be the go-to for managers across the business, helping them do the right thing and grow in confidence along the way.

  • Provide a professional HR advisory service that helps managers work to best practice
  • Coach and mentor managers on people performance and building capability in their teams
  • Make sure policies and employment legislation are applied fairly and consistently across the board

This is a proper hands-on ER role, supporting managers through the full range of people matters.

  • Support and guide managers through employee relations matters, including formal investigations
  • Guide people through the whole employee lifecycle, from recruitment right through to exit
  • Act as a calm, approachable first point of contact, delivering good outcomes for employee queries

You won't just keep things ticking over — you'll help make them better.

  • Use HR data to spot patterns and improve processes and service delivery
  • Support wellbeing initiatives that genuinely land with people

What You'll Bring

  • Solid HR advisory experience, ideally as a generalist across a range of casework
  • Confidence handling employee relations matters and running formal investigations
  • A good working knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice
  • A natural coaching style that builds managers' confidence rather than doing it all for them
  • Comfort using HR data to spot trends and shape how the service is delivered
  • A calm, approachable manner - people should feel they can come to you
