The Human Resources Advisor supports leadership, employees and volunteers across the company’s three operational sites, working in a trusted capacity and navigating the employment lifecycle. This role contributes to HR initiatives, programs, and continuous improvement efforts that support both operational effectiveness and the employee experience. The Advisor reports to the Human Resources Manager and works closely with all Resort departments.
Job Responsibilities
The primary function of this role is acting as a supportive, confidential, and reliable advisor to organizational leaders, and being able to provide concise and compliant advice and guidance aligned with HR best practices. In addition, the HR Advisor must be able to carry out all day-to-day functions of the Human Resources Department and is expected to provide support, when necessary, throughout Resort operations.
• Partner with supervisors and department leaders to provide practical guidance and support on employee relations, performance management, workplace concerns, and HR best practices.
• Support employee lifecycle activities including onboarding, employee development, engagement initiatives, performance support, and offboarding process.
• Advise & assist with a variety of employee inquiries while ensuring confidentiality is respected.
• Contribute to the completion of operational deliverables, including employee experience, engagement & continuous improvement initiatives.
• Facilitate pertinent training sessions, as needed, in conjunction with the HR team and departments ensuring it is relevant to the company's needs.
• Monitor & support day-to-day HR processes while ensuring standard operating procedures, policies, and HR practices remain current, consistent, and operationally effective.
• Contribute to employee policy development, roll out, and interpretation.
• Support employee relations matters including workplace investigations, conflict resolution, performance management, corrective action, and terminations in partnership with the HR Manager.
• Assist with HR reporting, tracking, and administrative processes.
• Assist the Talent Acquisition team with recruitment activities and initiatives.
• Support the HR Operations team with uniform distribution, maintenance and inventory.
Other duties and projects may be requested and assigned from time to time.
Experience/Requirements
• Designation or related post-secondary education in Human Resources, Labour Relations, or a combination of education and experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in seasonal, recreation and tourism-focused workplaces.
• Knowledge of HR best practices and Employment Standards, Human Rights, and OHS legislation.
• Experience supporting investigations and employee relations matters.
• Advanced computer skills and experience working with an up-to-date suite of Microsoft programs and digital HRIS system is a must.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Competent to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships.
• Excellent time management and a strong aptitude for forward-planning.
• Professional, positive, and friendly attitude.
• Prepared to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions (appropriate footwear, outerwear, etc.).
• Calm under pressure and patient.
• Must always maintain confidentiality and professional conduct, on or off-duty, and online.
• Effectively provide training, support and assistance to coworkers and other departments.
Additional Considerations
• Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
• This job works set, full-time hours, though the candidate may at occasional times work on a flexible, changing seasonal schedule (weekends, holidays, nights, extended hours).
• This position may require some travel. Candidates must undergo additional training and review for additional job responsibilities such as driving, operating equipment, skiing and riding for work, and the chosen candidate must also always be prepared to work on site, at the Resort, in a high-altitude, alpine environment.
