Job Description

  • Current enrollment as a student at Allegheny College that has matriculated prior to the fall of 2027.

  • Availability to fulfill on-call duties and attend required meetings, training sessions, and programming events.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Community Development:
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive community within the residence hall by organizing and facilitating social and educational programs that promote engagement, connection, and cultural awareness.
  • Build positive relationships with residents through regular interactions, providing support, guidance, and referrals to campus resources as needed.
  • Collaborate with fellow RAs and Residence Life staff to coordinate community-building initiatives, such as floor meetings, group outings, and community service projects.
  1. Student Support:
  • Serve as a visible and approachable resource for residents, addressing concerns, resolving conflicts, and providing guidance on campus policies and procedures.
  • Assist residents with roommate conflicts, academic challenges, personal crises, and other issues, referring them to appropriate campus resources for additional support when necessary.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with residents to assess their well-being, academic progress, and satisfaction with the residential experience.
  1. Crisis Management:
  • Serve as a first responder to emergencies and crises within the residence hall, following established protocols and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of residents. - Participate in on-call duty rotations, responding to after-hours emergencies and providing support and assistance as needed.
  • Collaborate with campus partners, including Campus Safety, Counseling Services, and Student Affairs, to address emergencies and provide timely support to residents.
  1. Administrative Duties:
  • Assume duty responsibility on a schedule assigned by their supervisor. Specific duty schedules and responsibilities vary by residential facilities. However, staff members on duty typically need to be available between 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM.
  • Complete administrative tasks related to the residence hall's operation, including room inspections, maintenance requests, incident reports, and programming documentation.
  • Attend regular staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development workshops to enhance leadership skills, knowledge of campus resources, and understanding of relevant policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between residents and Residence Life staff, communicating important information, policy updates, and campus events to residents.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
