Location: Detroit, MI Pay Rate: $20.50/hour

The Housing Placement Team Lead (TL) provides day-to-day direction and guidance to assigned staff while delivering high-quality housing placement services. This role ensures all services are provided in compliance with contractual requirements, regulatory standards, and accreditation guidelines. The TL supports clients through a strength-based approach and plays a key role in building partnerships and improving service delivery.

Provides day-to-day direction and guidance to assigned staff in addition to providing housing placement services in accordance with all applicable contractual and regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Program Oversight

  • Provide day-to-day direction and guidance to assigned staff, ensuring quality service delivery aligned with contract and funding requirements.
  • Maintain and communicate written guidelines and procedures governing program operations.
  • Support staff participation in case consultations, team meetings, and ongoing program development.
  • Provide consultation and assistance on complex or challenging cases.

Client Services

  • Deliver comprehensive, strength-based housing support services to assigned clients.
  • Coordinate the client referral process, ensuring all referrals, interim reports, and placement documentation meet contractual expectations.
  • Engage with clients through education and support to promote improved outcomes.

Partnership Development & Community Engagement

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with landlords, property management companies, and community-based organizations.
  • Represent the New American Program at community events and outreach activities to enhance awareness and engagement.

Operations & Resource Management

  • Assist in managing the inventory of donated household items and maintain accurate tracking systems.
  • Support the request and tracking of vouchers for rental assistance and household needs, ensuring proper documentation and financial accountability.
  • Maintain accurate data management systems and provide statistical reports as required.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related human services field preferred

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in human or community services
  • Experience providing direct services to refugees, asylees, or other vulnerable populations preferred
  • 1–3 years of leadership or team supervision experience preferred
  • Bilingual in Dari or Pashto strongly preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Reliable personal transportation and proof of current auto insurance
  • Ability to drive a 20-foot rental vehicle
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed
