This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.
NATURE OF WORK
Under general supervision, performs administrative, office and/or clerical work of moderate difficulty; this position has department specific responsibility.

Examples of duties

(Illustrative Only) Receives, sorts, indexes, files, and retrieves forms, correspondence, and documents; enters data into computer; formats, composes and types documents and reports from written draft and transcription.; may take abbreviated notes of meetings; compiles reports and summaries of work; checks and completes records, forms, and documents. Develops and maintains office records and files; receives, and responds to correspondence and operates a variety of office machines; answers routine and extraordinary questions from the public; prepares and processes confidential and sensitive documents; responsible for mailing out removal and ineligibility letters; ensures waiting lists are purge on an annual basis; mail notices and prepare packages for mass briefings; receives, processes, and enters Section 8 and Public Housing applicants information into Lindsey program; provides back up for Clerk II to collect payments such as rent, promissory notes and maintenance charges; may assists with processing work orders when needed; secures front office at the end of the day; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; plus coursework in general office procedures AND three years of office work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; requires successful completion of a background check.

Supplemental information

Knowledge of: County policies and procedures; business English, spelling, and arithmetic; office computer hardware and software applications; clerical and office practices and procedures.

Skill in: Effectively dealing with public inquiries; making arithmetic computations with speed and accuracy; maintaining records and preparing reports; the operation of various office machines/equipment; following written and verbal instructions.

Ability to: Effectively respond to phone calls, emails and complaints in a timely manner; plan, prioritizes, manages and responds to multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment; read, write, research, synthesizes data and detailed reports; use modern office equipment and computers; communicate effectively verbally and written; lift up to 5 – 25 lbs; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity; generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking and 20% standing; working at a computer monitor for extended periods required; the job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.

About Yuma County Arizona

Yuma County is one of four original counties designated by the first Territorial Legislature. It maintained its original boundaries until 1983 when voters decided to split Yuma County into LaPaz County in the north and a new "Yuma County" in the south. For many years, Yuma served as the gateway to the new western territory of California, which brought thousands from around the world in search of gold, or those who had it. In 1870, the Southern Pacific Railroad bridged the river. Yuma became a hub for the railroad and was selected as the county seat in 1864.

Yuma County is bordered by California on the West/Mexico on the South and has a year-round population of approximately 200,000 residents. During the winter, the population increases by about 90,000 due to the sun-seeking Winter Visitors affectionately known as "Snowbirds".
