About the Role:

This is a part-time, maximum-term contract based in Fairfield, NSW, available until 30 June 2027.

As the Housing Independence Officer, you will play a key role in coordinating the allocation of social housing properties across Hume Housing’s portfolio. Working in accordance with the Pathways Policy, Service Agreements and Program Guidelines, you will assess housing applications, match customers to suitable properties, and support the efficient allocation of housing resources to achieve positive customer outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Monitoring the Referral Register and allocating customers to suitable properties with close adherence to relevant legislation and requirements.
• Coordinate property offers, viewings and lease sign-ups.
• Assess housing applications and maintain accurate customer and property records.
• Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate timely allocations.
• Provide recommendations to the Manager on complex allocation matters.
• Ensure compliance with housing policies, tenancy legislation and funding requirements.

Qualifications:

• Current National Police Check and Working with Children Check (or the ability to obtain these prior to commencement).
• Intermediate to Microsoft Office skills, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Demonstrated administration and customer service experience across phone, email and face-to-face interactions.
• Experience working in the social housing, community housing or community services sector.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with customers and stakeholders.

Desirable:

• Experience working in social housing, community housing or similar customer-focused environment.
• Experience using housing management systems such as Homes or TRIM.
• Certificate III or IV in Community Services, Housing or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of social housing legislation, allocations processes and tenancy management principles.
