Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lambeth to assist with the appointment of a Housing Advisor, on a 6.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £22.51 - £29.67 per hour

Summary:

The Housing Advisor is responsible for preventing and relieving homelessness in accordance with the Homelessness Reduction Act, associated Code of Guidance, case law and best practice. The post holder will provide housing advice, undertake housing needs assessments, develop personalised housing plans and manage a complex caseload of customers experiencing housing difficulties.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake housing needs assessments and develop personalised housing plans based on individual circumstances.
  • Manage a complex and demanding caseload of priority and non-priority customers.
  • Provide advice, advocacy, negotiation, mediation and conciliation to prevent or relieve homelessness.
  • Ensure all appropriate housing options are thoroughly explored before considering temporary accommodation.
  • Assess and investigate homeless applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 and communicate assessment outcomes to customers.
  • Provide a front-of-house service, ensuring customers are directed to the appropriate service.

Essentials:

  • Relevant experience in housing options, homelessness prevention or a related housing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act and Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
  • Knowledge of homelessness legislation, housing benefit and welfare rights.
  • Experience of undertaking housing needs assessments and homelessness applications.
  • Experience of developing housing or personalised housing plans.

  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires a Standard DBS
