The House Person supports the housekeeping department by providing essential assistance to ensure efficient operations and high standards of cleanliness throughout guest areas and back‑of‑house spaces. This role performs routine and non‑routine cleaning tasks, moves supplies and equipment, and helps maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for guests and team members.
Move heavy supplies, equipment, and materials as directed by housekeeping leadership.
Pull linen and trash chutes daily and transport items to designated areas.
Stock housekeeping lockers with linens, amenities, and cleaning supplies.
Perform routine cleaning tasks including dust mopping, sweeping, wet mopping, waxing, vacuuming, polishing, and operating basic mechanical cleaning equipment.
Perform non‑routine cleaning tasks such as stripping and refinishing floors, operating floor scrubbers and buffers, washing windows, cleaning waste receptacles, shampooing carpets, and moving furniture.
Maintain the safety and security of guests, team members, and property assets.
Maintain a pleasant, friendly, and welcoming attitude at all times.
Demonstrate knowledge of special events and promotional activities to assist guests when needed.
Follow all safety guidelines, cleaning procedures, and proper use of chemicals and PPE.
Maintain positive working relationships and communicate effectively with team members.
Perform additional duties or special assignments as required.
High school diploma or GED required.
Two years of experience in janitorial services or high‑volume hotel housekeeping.
Ability to read, write, and understand simple instructions.
Strong oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
Knowledge of safe cleaning practices, proper chemical use, and standard housekeeping equipment.
Understanding of Innkeepers Laws, OSHA regulations, and local health department standards.
Ability to work efficiently under frequent time pressure in a fast‑paced, interruptive environment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods (approximately 30% of shift).
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds overhead or at arm’s length.
Ability to push and pull equipment and carts (approximately 25% of shift).
Ability to work in a high‑rise hotel environment including laundry rooms, storage areas, banquet halls, and public spaces.
Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, noise, dust, fumes, and cleaning chemicals.
Ability to use elevators, stairs, and escalators throughout the shift.
Compliance with all company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
