Job Description

This is a full-time, 6-month contract position running from May 1 to October 31, ideal for candidates seeking a seasonal leadership opportunity in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Housekeeping Supervisor

You are vital to the success of your department because you know CLEAN. You understand what it takes for a hotel to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and you take pride in maintaining the highest housekeeping standards. You support leadership in bringing that vision to life while working alongside your team to ensure every room and public space reflects excellence. You lead by example, especially when guiding new team members, and help create a culture of accountability, efficiency, and pride. In the role of Housekeeping Supervisor, you will:

Be a Role Model – Lead by example by actively participating in daily operations including cleaning, inspecting, and supporting your team. Provide hands-on training, coaching, and guidance to ensure all team members understand and meet hotel standards.

Be Detail-Oriented – Conduct thorough inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure cleanliness and presentation meet or exceed expectations. Identify deficiencies, provide feedback, and ensure corrections are completed promptly.

Be an Effective Leader – Supervise housekeeping staff, assist with training and onboarding, and support performance management through coaching, communication, and accountability. Foster a positive and productive team environment.

Be Organized & Efficient – Coordinate daily room assignments, track progress, log requests, and ensure timely completion of all housekeeping duties. Assist with scheduling and payroll preparation as needed.

Be a Communication Hub – Maintain clear and timely communication with Guest Services, Maintenance, and Management regarding room status, maintenance needs, and operational updates.

Be Safety & Standards Focused – Ensure compliance with all hotel policies, safety procedures, and cleanliness standards. Monitor proper use of equipment, chemicals, and key control procedures.

Job Requirements

• Prior housekeeping experience required, with a minimum of 2–3 years in a hotel environment; previous supervisory experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of housekeeping operations, cleaning procedures, and equipment
• Ability to lead, train, and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment
• Medium work – ability to exert up to 50 lbs occasionally and up to 20 lbs frequently
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stretch, twist, and reach for extended periods
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask effectively
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Reliable attendance and flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

• Supervise and ensure completion of all housekeeping staff duties, maintaining high cleanliness and service standards throughout the hotel
• Inspect a minimum of 30 rooms per shift to ensure cleanliness, quality, and adherence to brand standards
• Inspect all assigned guest rooms daily, identify deficiencies, and ensure timely correction and re-inspection
• Prepare daily room assignments and adjust workloads based on operational needs
• Maintain accurate logs of requests, room status updates, and departmental communications
• Collaborate with Guest Services to resolve room discrepancies and physically verify rooms when required
• Submit and follow up on maintenance requests to ensure timely resolution of issues
• Monitor housekeeping carts, closets, and supply levels to ensure organization and readiness for each shift
• Conduct inspections of public areas, offices, laundry facilities, and back-of-house spaces to maintain cleanliness standards
• Oversee laundry operations, ensuring proper use of equipment, avoiding overloading, and maintaining cleanliness and safety practices
• Ensure proper key control procedures are followed at all times
• Assist in recruiting, training, scheduling, coaching, and evaluating housekeeping staff performance
• Step in to clean guest rooms or assist the team during high occupancy or staffing shortages
• Perform other duties as assigned by management to support the overall success and efficiency of the housekeeping department
