Job Purpose:
The Housekeeping Supervisor for One Wingate East is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all residents, staff, and visitors. This role includes supervising housekeeping staff, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. The Housekeeping Supervisor will also perform housekeeping duties as needed to support the team and community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervise, train, and schedule housekeeping staff to ensure effective coverage and efficient operations.
• Perform housekeeping duties as needed to support staff and maintain service standards.
• Conduct daily inspections of resident apartments, common areas, and facilities to ensure cleanliness and maintenance standards are met.
• Maintain housekeeping supply inventory, order supplies as needed and manage budgets responsibly.
• Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure compliance with health, safety, and infection control standards.
• Respond promptly and effectively to resident, staff, or visitor housekeeping requests or concerns.
• Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of housekeeping equipment and supplies.
• Collaborate with other departments to support special events, moves, or community needs.
• Uphold Wingate’s “Five Star” customer service approach in every aspect of the job.
• Ensures continued compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
• Actively participates in all quality processes.
• Directly supervises employees in the Housekeeping Department.
• Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action when necessary.
• Lead in-service education and training sessions for housekeeping staff.
• Investigates on-the-job injuries and corrects the problem and/or retrains the employee as necessary.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.
• Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
• Reports to the appropriate managers any known or suspected violations of policy and procedures, regulations or standards of conduct.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or certifications in hospitality or facility management preferred.
• Previous housekeeping experience required, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, safety standards, and infection control practices.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff and residents.
• Ability to train, motivate, and lead a team.
• Basic computer skills for scheduling and inventory.
• Strong organizational, training, and leadership skills.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
