HOUSEKEEPER

Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor / Assistant Maintenance Manager

Under the general direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor or Assistant Maintenance Manager, the Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation of the Grand Turk Cruise Center offices, restrooms, outdoor cabana areas, plazas, pool areas, and surrounding facilities. The role ensures that all guest and employee areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service, contributing to a positive visitor experience and upholding the reputation of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the Housekeeper include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain female restrooms and public areas, with particular attention to high-traffic periods on cruise ship days.
  • Assist housekeeping team members in maintaining cleanliness throughout the entire complex, including pool areas, plazas, cabanas, walkways, and other public spaces.
  • Ensure all assigned cleaning equipment and materials are used safely, properly, and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Clean and maintain administrative offices, employee facilities, and surrounding work areas to a high standard.
  • Monitor restroom and facility conditions and promptly report maintenance issues, supply shortages, or repair requirements to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Recommend improvements to cleaning procedures, restroom upkeep, and overall facility maintenance.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager and other supervisors with operational tasks and special projects as required.
  • Ensure cleaning supplies, equipment, and work areas are maintained in a safe, organized, and secure manner.
  • Adhere to all Grand Turk Cruise Center policies, procedures, health and safety standards, and operational guidelines.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to guests, tenants, staff, and visitors at all times.
  • Serve as a positive ambassador for the Grand Turk Cruise Center and the Turks and Caicos Islands by demonstrating professionalism, courtesy, and integrity.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns within the scope of the position.
  • Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by management to support the efficient operation of the business.
  • Carry out such other responsibilities as may be outlined in the job description or communicated by the Employer from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Education and Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Certification or training in housekeeping, janitorial services, sanitation, or facility maintenance is an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of workplace health, safety, and hygiene standards.

Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in housekeeping, custodial services, cleaning, hospitality, facilities maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working in a high-traffic public facility, hotel, resort, cruise port, or commercial environment would be an advantage.
  • Experience using cleaning chemicals, equipment, and machinery safely and effectively.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of proper cleaning methods, sanitation procedures, and safe handling of cleaning products.
  • Ability to operate and maintain housekeeping equipment and tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Ability to identify and report maintenance issues, hazards, and supply requirements.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, particularly on cruise ship days.
  • Ability to follow instructions, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning duties, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling equipment and supplies for extended periods.

  • Must be reliable, punctual, and dependable.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends, public holidays, evenings, and cruise ship days as required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
