We’re looking for Housekeeper/Kitchenhand staff to join the team at the Boolardy Accommodation Facility (BAF) on Wajarri Yamaji Country.

BAF is a 40-bed site in the Murchison region of Western Australia, supporting staff working on scientific and infrastructure projects, including the Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara, CSIRO Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory.

In this hands-on role, you’ll help keep the accommodation clean, safe and welcoming for everyone staying on site. You’ll be responsible for cleaning rooms after staff check out and before new people arrive, wash and fold linen, help with basic meal preparation and kitchen clean-up, and keep supplies stocked.

You’ll work as part of a small, supportive team on a week-on/week-off roster (around 35-40 hours per fortnight). During your shift, all travel, accommodation, and meals are provided, and you’ll also receive remote location allowances.

Your duties will include:

• Conducting check-out and pre-arrival cleans of donga-style accommodation rooms after staff leave and before new staff arrive. This includes (but not limited to) polishing, mopping, sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, wiping surfaces, window cleaning, changing linen, emptying bins, sanitising and disinfecting. This may include bathrooms, showers and toilets as well.
• Operating cleaning equipment such as (but not limited to) carpet shampooers, sweeping machines, steam cleaners, pressure washing equipment, vacuum cleaners, polishing machines, and dishwashers as needed.
• Providing laundry services for the accommodation facility (wash and dry bed sheets, towels and other linen).
• Assisting the chef with basic food preparation, serving, and cleaning up in the kitchen and dining areas.
• Unpacking deliveries and helping restock supplies to keep kitchens, laundry, and cleaning areas well organised.
• Following daily instructions and asking for help when unsure, using good judgement to complete tasks safely and to a high standard.
• Being part of a team that shares jobs fairly and supports each other to get everything done on time.

Location: Boolardy Accommodation Facility (BAF), Murchison, WA – FIFO/DIDO from Geraldton, WA

Salary: AU$31.85 – AU$38.29 per hour + 25% casual loading + up to 15.4% superannuation + additional Murchison Site Allowance

Duration: Casual x 2 positions – rostered shift work (approx. 35–40 hours per fortnight)

To be considered you will need:

• Minimum Year 10 education or equivalent training, and/or relevant work experience in cleaning, housekeeping, or kitchen support in hospitality, accommodation, or similar settings.
• Ability to work as part of a team, show respect for others, and help create a positive and safe workplace.
• Reliability and readiness to work in a remote location, including on a fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) or drive-in/drive-out (DIDO) roster, such as week-on/week-off shifts.
• Ability to follow safe work procedures and use cleaning equipment (like vacuums and pressure washers) with care, including understanding of hygiene, manual handling, and basic food safety.
• Good communication skills, including being able to listen, ask questions, and speak respectfully with others.
