GENERAL SUMMARY
Works under the supervision of the Environmental Services Manager. The Housekeeper's primary job function is repetitive cleaning tasks in maintaining assigned hospital area in an attractive, orderly and sanitary condition according to established procedures. While performing the duties of this, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, push/pull equipment, use arm, leg and back muscles for extended periods, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb, stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more and occasionally move 400 pounds or more with assistance. Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

1.Cleans all assigned areas using the established seven-step cleaning procedure in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and infection-prevention standards.
2.Removes trash from assigned areas; empties and cleans waste receptacles; and properly segregates, handles, and disposes of regular, biohazardous, and infectious waste in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements.
3.Dry and wet mops floors using approved disinfectants; vacuums and shampoos carpets as needed; and buffs floors following established procedures and safety guidelines.
4.Obtains required materials and supplies from designated areas and restocks assigned locations daily to ensure continuous availability and consistent cleaning performance.
5.Demonstrates knowledge of Environmental Services–approved chemicals, including proper use, dilution, and required dwell times, in accordance with departmental policies and manufacturer instructions.
6.Promptly reports equipment in need of repair or replacement to the supervisor to ensure safe operation and uninterrupted service.
7.Maintains equipment, carts, and supply closets in a neat, clean, and organized condition in accordance with departmental standards and safety guidelines.
8.Responds courteously and promptly to patient, visitor, and staff requests within the scope of Environmental Services and communicates needs or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
9.Cleans and disinfects high-touch surfaces and restroom areas in assigned spaces according to established procedures and infection-prevention standards.
10. Completes required cleaning logs, checklists, or documentation accurately and as assigned.
