Job Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Under the direct supervision of a state licensed/certified Administrator, ensures cleanliness of facility including resident rooms as well as common areas. Performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents;
• Perform housekeeping duties which may include but are not limited to vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathrooms and other surfaces, etc.;
• Manage time effectively by being fast paced and task oriented;
• Report any changes in resident condition.

ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

• Answer phones and greet visitors;
• May assist Caregivers with transfers or other temporary needs;
• May be required to train other team members on job responsibilities;
• Perform related duties as required.

ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED BY LEAD HOUSEKEEPER

• Maintain housekeeping staffing needs;
• Develop effective schedules;
• Provide supervisor with a list of needed supplies as necessary;

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age;
• Prior housekeeping experience preferred, preferably in healthcare;
• Knowledge of all resident’s rights, including the right to be free of restraints and abuse;
• Knowledge of therapies and techniques used to improve resident quality of life;
• Knowledge and use of safe practices in handling hazardous chemicals;
• Ability to work with diverse populations including age, those with mental illness, memory loss diagnosis, and/or physical impairments, and aid in these resident’s ADL’s as needed;
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions;
• Ability to keep daily records;
• Ability to handle emergency situations, power outage, medical emergency, fire, flood, etc;
• Ability to schedule workload so the facility is clean and safe;
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, residents, and families;
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive data at all times;
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting;
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and to keep daily records.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Must pass a criminal background check;
• This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing;
• Punctuality and attendance at scheduled shifts.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and crawling required;
• Repeated hand and arm movements, lifting, reaching over head, standing for extended periods of time, use a step stool and work on wet slippery surfaces;
• Must be able to work regularly and safely with chemicals;
• Must have sufficient physical ability to clean bathrooms, bedrooms, floors, etc.;
• Must frequently lift or move objects weighing up to thirty five (35) pounds unassisted.
