The mission of Lake Junaluska is to be a place of Christian hospitality where lives are transformed through renewal of soul, mind and body.
Located in the Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina, Lake Junaluska is a conference and retreat center that hosts over 50,000 overnight guests annually.  We have over 400 lodging rooms, a campground, and meeting space for up to 2,000 people.  All of our facilities are located on a scenic 1,200 acre campus which boasts panoramic views, abundant recreation opportunities, and a 200 acre lake.   Our market ranges from youth groups to affluent leisure guests primarily from the Southeastern US.
Essential Functions
Must possess excellent hospitality skills and a strong desire to foster an attitude of “exceeding guest’s expectations”.
Must maintain professional appearance including wearing a clean, pressed uniform.
Must be honest, reliable, and prompt in assisting guest through daily contact.
Regularly clean and maintain furniture, rooms, and guest common areas on the Lake’s campus to departmental and industry standards.
Constantly keep hallways, elevators, stairways, meeting rooms, and offices clean, including outside areas.
Assure appropriate appearance of all public areas and private rooms for guest comfort.
Vacuums and cleans all floors and carpets in guest rooms or public areas.
Dusts and polishes all furniture, keeps windows and doors clean.
Scrubs, disinfects and deodorizes all bathroom fixtures.
Strips beds, collects dirty linen, and make beds with fresh linens.
Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures and report any unsafe activities or conditions immediately to supervisor.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required.
QualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
A combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and a minimum of 1 year relevant experience.
Hospitality experience strongly desired.
Must have demonstrated good communication skills, client relation skills, and a commitment to providing responsive and conscientious customer service.
Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs, multiple task demands, and work structures.
Ability to manage time effectively to ensure all tasks are completed in the time allotted.
Ability to read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.
Ability to effectively present job related information upon request to customers, clients, and employees of the organization.
Proven organizational skills and interpersonal skills are required.
Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of customer, clients and employee questions.
Ability to support the Mission and Vision of Lake Junaluska is essential.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule
Working conditions
Moderate to heavy physical activity performing strenuous and non-strenuous activities with moderate to loud noise.
Indoor/outdoor work. Frequently exposed to elements such as; heat, cold, wind, rain.
Ability to coordinate work, frequently moves about, able to stand for prolonged periods of time, walk, sit,  manual dexterity to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, talk to and hear and understand staff and customer requests,  and also lifts or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to work with a variety of chemicals, including pro-quaternary and bleach based products.
Must have good vision to monitor grade of cleaning.  Able to identify and distinguish colors; ability to adjust focus, must have depth perception in order to re-set rooms.
Work Schedule: Monday – Sunday, nights/weekends/holidays as required.
