Environmental Services Specialist -Housekeeper

Full Time Days

Sun - Sat 7a -3:30 pm

This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and infection-free environment in specialized hospital areas such as Operating Rooms, Cath Labs, GI Labs, Labor & Delivery Suites, Pharmacy Compounding Labs, and other clinical spaces. The position performs routine, terminal, and isolation cleaning while ensuring compliance with hospital safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning & Infection Prevention

  • Perform routine, terminal, and isolation room cleaning.
  • Clean patient rooms, restrooms, floors, walls, furniture, equipment, and other hospital areas.
  • Follow infection prevention protocols and use appropriate cleaning chemicals.
  • Operate Ultra Violet (UV) disinfection equipment safely and according to policy.
  • Use proper PPE and safe lifting techniques.

Waste Management

  • Remove, transport, and dispose of various waste streams, including:
  • General waste
  • Biohazard waste
  • Chemotherapy waste
  • Pharmaceutical waste
  • Replace and manage waste-related containers, including sharps and biohazard containers.

Customer Service

  • Provide professional and courteous service to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Support Wellstar's commitment to world-class service.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Assist with special projects and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Document completed assignments.
  • Use Epic to manage bed flow and patient room status.
  • Adapt to staffing needs and cover additional assignments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Experience

  • Some related experience preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow safety, infection control, and cleaning procedures.
  • Must successfully complete departmental training within the first 30 days of employment.
