Shifts: 0600-1330 or 0700-1430

Education & Experience
• Grade 10 education or equivalent
• Previous experience in a health or long-term care setting is preferred
• WHMIS certification
• Related certifications are an asset.

Key Responsibilities
1. The ability to effectively and compassionately perform housekeeping work in a long-term care setting where residents’ personal and cognitive needs are high.
2. Cleans, disinfects, vacuums, dusts, washes residents' rooms and furniture, common areas, and any other areas as assigned on a scheduled and unscheduled basis.
3. Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, equipment, beds.
4. Collect, launder, and deliver linens to resident rooms while ensuring laundry supplies are restocked, and equipment is used safely.
5. Engage in conversation with residents while cleaning their suite or in common areas.
6. Prepares cleaning solutions and utilizes cleaning supplies in accordance with WHMIS standards, established procedures and safe practices.Ensures laundry equipment and supplies are used and stored safely and efficiently, and restocked as needed. Reports unsafe or faulty equipment to the Administrative Coordinator.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• An engaging personality with the physical and mental fitness to perform all assigned duties independently and with minimal supervision.
• A respectful attitude that upholds the spirit, dignity, and individuality of all residents.
• Competency in English to effectively follow and communicate written and oral instructions.
• Technical proficiency to safely and efficiently operate all equipment required for the position.
• Strong interpersonal skills characterized by tact, courtesy, and patience with residents, guests and employees.
• Knowledge about the safe use of cleaning chemicals and housekeeping and janitorial equipment.
